Who knows toys better than kids? No one, if you ask Wham-O.
The company responsible for bringing Hula Hoops and Frisbees to the masses is celebrating its 60th birthday this month by looking for the next great plaything.
Wham-O hopes to find it by holding a Kid Inventor Contest. It's looking for innovative ideas that one day may sit beside Super Balls on toy store shelves across the land.
To enter, children ages 6 to 17 who live in the United States or Canada must submit their own suggestions for either a new toy or a significant improvement on an existing one to Wham-O by March 31. Each entry should describe the toy in detail and explain how it would be used.
The winner, chosen by Wham-O toy engineers, will be awarded $2,000. If the idea evolves into a salable toy, it will be featured nationwide as part of the company's lineup, and the winner will earn royalties.
Entry forms, submission agreements, contest rules and other details are available on the company's Web site at www.wham-o.com/contest.
