Aloha locals! My pals and I are preparing for our yearly trek to your lovely burg. Been going since early 80s! We have met a lot of awesome folks over the years and really enjoy our time there. Our question is this: We would like to get away from the camp scene for an evening of FUN! Usually we go to El Cids on a Friday night and then wander aimlesly around town. Usually, we end up at Pines. This year, we thought we should get some local input! We want to check out the bar scene (if any) and maybe karaoke or something fun and wacky! We will start at El Cids for early dinner. Then what? Who has the best drinks? Music? Live DJ? dancing? Karaoke? Billiards/darts? Etc...We'll "crawl" from one place to another. Desg driver already picked out!
And by the way...if you're ever down So Cal way, drop me a line and we'll do a little crawlin around my turf!!
THANKS!!

Well, the night scene up here is pretty scarce these days.

The Pines, Oak Room, Yosemite Coffee Roasting House.

The Jade and Pines have Karaoke - but I think on Thursday nights. LAst time we went to the Pines for Karaoke, we were surprised at the number of those who were there and those who could really sing and entertain us (I'm not one of those, but Patagomaniac, BGirlsworld, TooCools, Lacey and Newcomer are!)

That's about it...

Now if Stone River Band is playing at any one of those venues, your in for a great night of dancing and a good local band!

The Jade offers a full bar and typically has Karaoke Thurs., Fri., and Saturday nights. The singers are generally pretty good but there does seem to be a focus on Country Western music. They also have a pool table and a shuffle board (smaller than normal but still cool).

The Yosemite Coffee Roasting Company (http://www.yosemitecoffee.com/Entertaiment.html) (The Grind) Has live entertainment most weekends...including Stone River!
Beer and wine are available.

The Oak Room is a standard hole-in-the-wall bar with two pool tables and a dart board. Live Music...well, unless Stone River is playing there really isn't any advance notice on in coming bands. If I knew when your group was to be in the area, I could sneak a peek at their calendar! Usually up coming events are listed Here (http://groups.myspace.com/theoakroom), however, there doesn't seem to have been any recent updates.

The Velvet Rose (http://www.sandinosvelvetrose.com/index.html) also has a full bar, pool table, dart board, a decent jukebox, and...the highlight of the bar...the dance pole(tho- I have never actually seen anyone on it, it is rumored to have seen some action.

I think that is about all there is to think about in downtown Oakhurst.

As a last resort, there is always the Casino

There are a few chicks (& dudes!!) in this group that will be attracted like a magnet to a pole!!

BTW: We're descending on July 16th through the 23rd.

Great thing about this crazy group...we seem to have the knack of making a party no matter what! We can turn crackers and water into an all night event! The whole week oughta be a blast and we're all looking forward to it!
Thanks to all for the input! The Stone River Band sounds awesome (downloaded a few casts) and I can see why you are all groupies!
See ya soon!
WOOOO HOOOO!!!!
