You may be right. McCain is however really not well liked by a large portion of the Republican party. In 2001 his campaign head actually approached the DNC about changing parties. This election is too bizarre If anyone told me the Evangelicals were going to support a Mormon I would have questioned their sanity. At this point nothing surprises me.
