View Full Version : Why you shouldn't vote
Meat Man

At one point I was a very big supporter of the vote. I helped with elections, I made all the phone calls, I even thought about running myself for an office.
Now I don't even think it matters.
Americans have NO VOICE. If we did, Bush would be impeached. Forget about all the other bad things this hillbilly has done, I want him impeached for telling everyone about "WMD'S", then to find he lied. Almost 3000 troops have died because of this, and countless others have lost limbs.
Impeached is a lite punishment. I really do feel in my heart that Bush should be hung for what he did. If I was a parent of one of those troops, I would kill him myself:mad:
But getting back to things, Americans have lost the voice and will to fight. In the 1700's we had wars about our rights, and wanting to be heard. There is no WAY Bush would have gotten away with what he did if it was the 1700's.

So ya don't think we should vote. That reminds me of an old saying “you don’t know what you’ve got until you lose it”. Ask anyone who doesn’t have the right to vote and I bet they’ll have plenty of reasons in favor of it. If you read a little history and learned about the trials and anguish certain groups of people had to fight and suffer thru in order to gain that right, you might feel a little differently. Perhaps you might consider adding history and facts to your reading list.
I feel your post has presented the best point of all in favor of voting. If for no other reason, and in my opinion there are numerous other reasons, voting gives you the right to complain about the way things are. If you don’t vote, then you have no right to mouth off about anything that doesn’t suit your fancy when it comes to government action or inaction.
In other words, if you're not going to play, then you don't have a say. It's not a perfect system but I'm not moving anywhere to try and find a better one. But I suppose that's always an option......:usa:

Rule #1.) Show Respect At All Times:
DO NOT post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
In some circles Meat Mans post about shooting or hanging Bush could be considered a terrorist threat, which is against the law, and the Secret Service is a lot more picky about this than local law enforcement. Saying impeach someone is totally different than saying they should be hung or shot. So this is a warning to please follow the rules and show respect.

Hard to believe a policeman wouldn't know better than to post this.

I never said I was going to do anything. I expressed a feeling, not a fact. We have free speech in this country. So madscot, as a police officer I DO know this, and I DO know the law. BTW ask other people and they will say the same thing. Lots of people are very angrey with the president, and lots of people feel he should have to answer for it.
I am done with this thread. You guys misunderstod what I said, and went a very diffrent direction then what I was looking at. I am not going to get in with you guys about this either. The fact is I expressed an opionion, not a plan that I was going to do.

I agree. Having been married to a law enforcement officer officer for the city of Fresno for 20 years~ this indeed sounds very very "off" ~! and I wish to further ad that this sounds very "odd" coming from a "life coach" ??? too~ :o
Meat man, you are entitled to your opinion, ( and this isnt the first time you have stated that you are done with a post~) having not liked the responses you were given and or recieved. We as forum members area also entitled to our opinions~
If you walk in to what is already commonly known to be a sensitive area, ( politics and or religion to name a few!) and are called on it ?? Well thats called the "consequences of our actions" or the "law of accountability"~ Simple.
There is not a forum member here who has not openly apologized to another member because of a mis- understanding or becuase what they thought they said, didnt read like it was meant....black and white is and can be misconstrued and intentions easily misunderstood. We all know this and strive hard to not mislead or flame anyone, while still expressing ourselves freely. It can be done, and it is done.
Yes you have the right to freedom of speech. We all use our right to freedoms of speech every day here, the difference lies in how you use your freedom of speech responsibly, or if you choose to abuse this freedom.
If you choose to abuse this freedomIf not you will be corrected by the owner or the owners representatives~ (Moderators~) you will deal with the opinions from the other members here too ~~ also, and once again another form of
-----> Freedom of speech!<-------
We are an online community which was built for people who live in our mountain community, and hold each other in high regards and treat each other with respect at all times. We are friends, and we are neighbors, and we are the Yosemite Area Online forums~! :)
Finally I want to ad what is my own opinion here ~ and that is~ Dont insult my inelligence. Its pretty clear to me that your words were NOT misunderstood, or their meaning lost as its hard to misunderstand or misread the meaning behind the words, such as "kill" and "hang"~ Those are pretty cut and dried.

Well all in all I didn't vote, I feel that in the politics they all say what we want to hear and then when they win they do the opposite. that is just my feelings. It is sad to feel this way it is almost depressing for me.. does that sound strange. I am not a very smart person with all these measures and such either and sometimes i feel overwhelmed.

Meat man people have gotten visits from the SS for saying as little as you did. The notion that we really have free speech is naive. We have free speech as long as you don't say the wrong thing.

Meat Man this happens to me alot. It's why I don't post often on this forum anymore. If your going to type something you need to say before hand what you mean. I've learned that.

Just so you know, I acted on this because I had members/moderators call this to my attention. I, personally, was not insulted. I do not like Bush. However, I did agree with what my Mod Team said on this subject when they pointed it out to me and I decided to take action since it was requested by my Moderators. I don't think it's right to suggest or imply the killing or hanging of any US President, no matter how much he is disliked and I believe it to be illegal... so a rule was broken and I sent an infraction. End of story. I stand behind my Moderators. They do a great job of informing me of issues and provide quality feedback. When the majority says to take action, I take action.

Messy.... as some of the other members pointed out in this thread... there is no way to miscommunicate the hanging of a President. You may have your own issues/problems here on the forums, but that has nothing to do with this topic and issue at hand. In fact, comparing yourself with this specific issue does not work in your favor.

Messy wasn't relating it to herself. She was just stating facts, and suggesting that MM think through what he wants to post before he posts it.

Wasn't relating to herself? That's EXACTLY what she was doing.
She said "Meat Man this happens to me alot."
I am now closing this topic.

And there she goes again...
I can't believe someone would have a problem with thinking before one speaks (or in this case writes). I use the little icons to let people know it's sarcasm or whatnot...
But, although I completely disagree with Bush's politics, I do not condone saying someone should be shot, hung or whatever...
And it's true, the SS or in our case, the CIA might come a knockin' when homeland security reads a threat to the pres.., maybe a good reason to have actual identities in place, then the Admin and Co. can't get implicated...
Freedom of speech is one thing, death threats and deflamation are taken seriously by most...

I would like to point out a few rules that were broken in this thread, by several members!
The First One:
1.) Show Respect At All Times:
DO NOT post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
And The Second One:
2.) Trolling Is Prohibited:
Trolling is whenever someone is clearly, deliberately posting in a manner for the purpose of angering and/or insulting the other participants of the board. Trolling DOES NOT encourage further discussion in the long run, it only encourages personal attacks.
Also:
It is against forum rules and you can get an infraction for repeatedly arguing with forum staff.
Remember, treat people nice like you would in person. You may be talking to your neighbors here, so be friendly and have fun!
