Anyone know of a good tree removal service that they could or would recommend? We have a couple more trees to take down before the wind blows them down. Last December during the one storm we had on December 7th two trees fell over and knocked over our propane tank, and everything else in their way. Anyway, we used we company here in town and they charged us 600 just to cut the trees out of our driveway. I have a few to call but it's nice getting some reliable ones who won't rob you blind.

We used Fisk Tree Service.

42365 Highway 49
Ahwahnee, CA 93601

(559) 642-6868

Reasons we preferred him over other vendors.

1) Showed up on time to review property and bid on job same day.
2) Was always available to contact by cell phone.
3) Team showed up on day of plan and completed work in less than half a day.
4) Competitve pricing. We hired him to clear 300 feet by 20 feet wide of deer brush to create a fire break, had him fell 2 trees ( at least 100 feet tall ), chip up all debris and leave in a pile moved to top of hill for our ease of use. All work was completed on a steep 45 degree slope. $900.
5) He cleaned up the area after all the work.
6) Team was courteous and professional in attitude and looks.
7) He cleared our neighbors corner lot of all fire hazard, low area brush , trees and trimmed up all trees to 100 foot ground clearance on 1 acre lot for $3,500. This required handwork with clearing and chain saws due to steep slopes. This area also required tons of clearing of poision oak prior to regular clearing of brush.
8) Experienced and knowledgeable with all fire code standards.
9) Additional neighbors like the results and ended up hiring him on their 2 acres lots as well.

I've been kinda of lucky, so far friends or neighbors have always wanted the wood, so Ive not been charged for them cutting or removing the trees, except for some left over brushes/leaves & Ive lived here for 9 years, in fact I lost a Oak the last storm we had, and one of my neighbors already called dibs on it : )

Luv this town ~ : ]

We have been lucky that way too ~ never had a problem getting a tree removed and the wood hauled off, ( well until this last time when a tree came down on a tenants residence, that was a whole new ball game and type of removal !) but thats NOT the norm for here~ any firewood goes fast ! :D

The main thing you want to make sure of when ever you do have to "hire" to have a tree removed is that the company or person you use, is bonded and insured, so if something goes wrong and it hits real property, your protected against the damage ~ :D

You can try Virgil too, he is reliable and has the insurance and bonding (I believe, you can ask him, or look at the ad in the front of the Advertiser). 658 8223.

I have used Hudson Fisk also and they show up, reasonable and did a wonderful job cleaning up. They removed a very large tree with the help of Oakhurst Crane. Did an amazing job. Highly recommended.

Thank you all for the feedback. I will give Fisk a call and see about a free estimate. Everytime it gets real windy here me and hubby start worrying about those darn trees coming down.
