What color scheme do you think would look good for new exterior paint at the Oak Room?

I've seen that many of the businesses have a barn red / forest green color combination as you drive from Oakhurst up toward Yosemite, so I've been thinking of co-ordinating that with the color scheme on the Oak Room.

I'd be interested to see your vote on the color scheme you like best 1 -9

(Note - The red should have been the same in all pictures, instead of kind of purple or pink in Picture 3. Also, Picture number 1 is the existing color, & the deck is just another idea - please just consider Just the color scheme and not the deck when voting!)

I put this in the open thread because I didn't want it to be an advertisement in the business thread. I hope I did that correctly!

I've never been to the Oak Room, and probably wouldn't go there ( I dont drink) But if my opinion still counts, I like picture number 5.

Good luck with your new business, It's nice to hear that you plan on cleaning it up, I've heard some bad things, would be nice to hear good things.

I also like the red... number 5 seems the best IMO. I also like the idea of having a fenced in area for horse shoes. I heard that you may be trimming down the back patio area to enlarge the stage area inside. Please consider that the back patio is VERY popular in the summer time and is often too small as is. It would be ok to make the patio smaller if you had another outside deck area or horse shoe pit, but just keep in mind that a lot of people like to be outside in the summer. Also, some outdoor heaters in the winter months would be nice. :)

I like # 7- looks the most contemporary with the 3 color scheme, with a neutral as one color....

Been to the oak room a few times in the past- had a great time playing darts!!

Keep the darts....

Mysteefied - Do you dance? We have a customer who only drinks cranberry and orange juice (he likes to play pool) and a number who drink only sodas, but like to socialize.

Sandman - Yes, funny you metioned the horse shoe pit, because we've been thinking of that or an outdoor area / beer garden. Some tables with umbrellas would be real nice, I think. But some of that has to be cleared with ABC. We're also considering adding a deck in front to match the Yarn Barn, where there's more shade.

Mary - Darts are fun. I wish we could have a real dart board, but the insurance companies freak out about that (I guess they think someone might go nuts and stab somebody). I used to be in a dart league years ago when real darts were acceptable. We are keeping the electronic board, and we're also getting the shuffle board refinished and moving it inside.

I'm lobbying to include Wii bowling & or other games (we're a big family and every decision is done by committee - actually its more like a bunch of lemmings). We have it at home and its an absolute BLAST! The problem is that we're trying to justify the extra time / trouble for the bartenders as well as the wear and tear on the game equipment.

I don't really dance, but I do love to listen to music and still have to get out to see the Stone River Band, now that I hear you've cleaned the place up, I would probably come see them there. Will you be having bands still?

Did you also buy the Yarn Barn? If so, are you doing anything different with that?
Thanks...I know I sound like a fuddy duddy....but I had my crazy days in my late teens early twenties. LOL

wii is a great idea!
I'm betting you'd get a return on investing in that equipment!! Especially if you do it with a big screen, or rear projection onto a screen.

Electronic darts is still fun, even more so for the inexperienced player, cause it's esier to stick the dart, and it keeps score for you! AND you are less likey to take the game so serious that drunk people get mad...

Bartenders will make more money if people are having fun. You could even have tournaments on the typical slow night to bring in business.

Mysteefied - yes the Yarn Barn is included in the purchase. We have had several people express interest in renting it, and that sound very tempting so we may do that though our original thought was to open a new and used bookstore with Ice cream and unique crafts.

I'm beat!

We came in after close about 2am last night to replace the floor behind the bar but the bad news is that we found out that the draft beer cooler is so old and rusted out that it has been leaking condensation (and probably some beer) which ended up seeping into the plywood sub floor. So we had to completely rip out the floor and put down new plywood before putting in new linoleum, instead of our simple plan of just laying new linoleum on top of the old linoleum. More bad news (for us) is that we weren't able to open for business as planned, and additionally we have to pay perhaps two or three times as much for the floor repair than we estimated.

The good news (for you) is that it smells much nicer inside with the new wood floor instead of the soggy floor, plus, we went down today and purchased a larger draft beer cooler. This means that we'll be serving 5 to 8 different draft beers instead of the previous 4. We plan to add some micro-brews or other types of drafts - we haven't decided which ones yet. I think I'll post another poll to get your thoughts soon, but I really have to sleep now!

Stopped by yesterday to drop something off to a worker there and was invited in. Wow, what a difference y'all are making. The floor was ripped out and they were awaiting the arrival of the new cooler, but were still making use of the time by cleaning. The linoleum behind the bar looks nice. I know it'll be covered by bar mats for safety (and comfort) but right now it looks so fresh and clean.
Learned some of the history of the Oak Room which I didn't know before. They said it had been a five room motel quite some time ago. Very interesting stuff...
I also noticed the 'notices' posted on the patio. Nice.

Someone suggested this color scheme last night, so I plugged it in to see what it might look like.

What do you think?
