If you were faced with a disaster (flood, fire, hurricane, etc.) and you only had minutes to decide what material possessions you would take with you, what would you decide to take and why?

As many books, writing pads and pens as I could carry. If I can't read and write, I wouldn't care much about having food, water, shelter, etc.!

I would take my photo's/home video's, anything could pretty much be replaced.
I'm actually in the process of putting all of my photo's on a flash drive so I could just grab that.

My dogs and cats, my collection of Bryer Horses, wizard of oz barbie collection, important photos, cameras, guitar.
My animals are family and I put a lot of money into my collections. Some of the horses I have had since I was a little kid in the 60's. You can't replace photos, I would hate to lose those. I have a lot since I love photography.

interesting answers on some of this. ROFL that monkey thought to take her husband, she's the only one (now aren't the rest of you ashamed, lol). I'd take my important papers, bible, my turqouise and silver jewelry, and some baby clothes my two son's had, and a couple of special music boxes. Pictures I wouldn't worry about because our family all have duplicates of photos so they would be easily replaced. Everything else is insured and replaceable. Depending on how much notice, I would try to take some food, blankets and such too.

My two cats, laptop for its files, and food/matches/blankets ~ ( keeping life and survival of life uppermost in my mind ) ~ the first aid kit with the antibiotics. LOL..didnt need to add my hubby, he would be the one sent in TEN different directions to help gather it all up....

My first thought would be my grandson, then elvis & kaya, I'd need to get the kenneled pups out too... I have a chest full of old photos, some documents and other memories. Then I'd throw in the old concert Tee shirts and a couple of irreplaceable pieces of art..
