How come no one states their party on the "vote for [blank]" signs, and in the mailings I have recieved. I went online to check out the websites the signs and mailings advertise, and they do not have a political party.

Who is this Tony Ward, Tom Wheeler, Jim something-or-other?

I'm not sure if this is the reason why but in certain elections political party is definately not stated on the ballot, judges for instance, and this may be the case for county supervisors. I don't know if this is so.

If that is the case they may feel why advertise their party and swing away those 'undecided' voters. Just a guess.

Hi...I am new to this Forum but have been reading up on many topics since I spend much of my time in Oakhurst and plan to move there soon. I know Tony Ward personally and support him for Supervisor 100%. He is currently the Madera County Planning Commissioner and was named "Commissioner of the Year" in 2005. The reason their party affiliations are not posted is because the job of a district Supervisor is specifically related to local (County) responsibilities such as land development, roads, ordinances and county departments. Tony's supporters are both Democrat and Republican, but they are all people who care about making sure they elect someone who is qualified and has no hidden agenda. The position is so much more important to all of the residents of Oakhurst, Ahawahnee, North Fork, Coarsegold etc than people realize and if you are interested, I will be happy to do another post and give you the "inside info" on what's really happening. (Sorry to be so long winded) K

I am liking the Tony Ward guy, but really that is out of complete ignorance to the other runners. I am a registered Liberatarian, and recieved some fliers from him. He is being supported by some of the oldtimers from Ahwahnee (where I reside) and a couple of great local Drs that I would guess to be Non-Republican. I like his issues, and his solutions for some things. Are there going to be debates or anything?

As a matter of fact, the final candidate Forum is scheduled for tomorrow night (Thursday, May 18th) at the Coarsegold Community Center at 5:30 pm. It is open for the public so you can ask questions and find out who is backing the candidates (any special interests?)and if they are knowledgeable about the issues. I believe the "hot topics" are about responsible planning by the "Big Developers", improving/widening Hwy 41, Water Resources management, "Incorporation of Oakhurst" etc. I wish I could be up there but I can't make it back up until Friday. I hope people will take the time to listen and most of all VOTE on June 6. You can read about Tony Ward's positions and stuff at www.tonywardonline.com (http://www.tonywardonline.com).
Nice to know there are still people out there who are intelligent enough to want to make an informed decision and not just vote for someone because they gave away free hot dogs! As someone else posted - If you don't vote - don't complain! K
