Local retirement homes

I may be moving my mom out from Colorado and will be looking at local Assisted Living options. She has Alzheimer's and Dementia, so she needs a place that will be able to accomodate her needs now and as the disease progresses. Do any of you have any personal knowledge/experiences with the local places? I need to keep local so I can visit several times a week and make sure she is properly cared for and kept somewhat active. Please let me know any good or bad you may have heard about. My mom is precious and deserves only the best!

My good friend Pauline works at the Assisted Living Center here in Oakhurst. I'm sure she would be able to answer any questions you have. I can setup a lunch sometime for us and I can introduce you.

Sandman, you seem to know EVERYONE! Is she at the place on 49? I'm just starting to look around. I looked at one in Coarsegold today that seemed nice, but it is the first one I've seen so far.

Monkey, honestly we searched around for a place for my mom up here and found a couple that were very nice, but the monthly rate was way over the top for us. There's one in Coarsegold (Rose something?), the Oakhurst Center & one up in Wishon.
The price will vary depending on the care necessary and the accommodations. We were looking at around $6,000. a month. My mom is happy now with my sister in Big Bear and has a live in at my brothers house. It all works out...
Pauline offered to go check on my mom when we still had her up here. She is a wonderful girl and I believe the seniors who have her care are truly lucky.

Thanks Sandman. I stopped in there a couple of days ago, but they can't take care of people who wander like my mom does.
