AVG Anti virus?

I had seen at one time on here where people said they liked the AVG inti virus, so tonight while I was helping my daughter set up her laptop (her graduation gift) I told her we had to put the anti virus on before we do internet stuff,

We went to the AVG site and clicked on download and buy, and put all of the information, paid and then got a message that it will take 4 hours to verify our purchase at which time they will send us some sort of code to get it!? What the heck?

Has anyone else heard of this? I thought I'd be able to download it right then, I'm so mad! Needless to say, we'll be looking for the email tomorrow, but I've never had something like that happen, where I couldn't just download it right away.

I'm so irritated, if I hadn't already paid for it, I'd have gone with something else.

Yes I have heard of this, They want to verify that the credit card payment is valid before giving you the unlock code for the software. If someone put in a bogus credit card and they then immediately gave the unlock code they then would have the software and the vendor would not be paid. Most companies have real time credit card validation but some don't.

can't you download the free trial until you get that code.. i have it and i get updates everyday and I don't have to pay for it.... i have the free edition

I had thought about that..downloading the free version until I get the code.

I guess I'm so used to things being instant that I was surprised by the delay. Usually when I pay by credit card it's immediate.

I used the AVG free software for about a year, and liked it so much that I ungraded to the"pay" version later. For me, it is the best product of its kind, I have found that it blocks and/or captures much more than any of the other antiivirus/spyware/adware products I have ever used (and I have tried most of them!).

OK, now I'm really mad! Last night when I got home, there was an email that my credit card could not be processed so the order was not placed.
So...I couldnt find anything wrong with the credit card I used, and I reordered with a different card, this morning, another email, stating they cannot process my credit card...It's a different card than the first one, there is pleny of credit on it. WTF!!?? I'm mad, I just want to get a friggen anti virus on her computer!

So after finding out that again the order didn't go through, I called the 800number to talk to someone and find out why we are having so much trouble trying to pay for this product, I waited on hold for a good 15 minutes,then it started to ring, and I heard a click and was disconnected. I'm DONE!

Looks like I'll be going after work to just buy one on a disk. Screw this! AVG Can kiss my butt!

her brand new laptop doesn't currently have an antivirus at all, so there would be nothing to uninstall.

how good is the one you would put on? Can I just buy the disk and do it myself?
