Wow, a theme park, sports complex and event center in Fresno... Looks like it finally gonna open. Looks like we need to make a plan...
The Forest at Granite Park;
Question: When will the theme park at Granite Park open?
Answer: The Forest at Granite Park, a 10-acre amusement park with a forest ecosystem theme, is expected to open in the fall, said Granite Park developer Milt Barbis.
The theme park near Dakota and Cedar avenues in Fresno will have four roller coasters -- including the Lightning Bolt from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas -- a flume ride, a lazy river ride, a swing ride, bumper cars and a double-decker carousel with hand-carved forest animals.
But Barbis is keeping plans for other rides close to the vest: "There are a few more amazing ones I can't describe yet."
Barbis had planned to open the theme park this spring, but getting city permits took longer than expected, he said. The first phase of The Forest will open by October. The second and third phases may be finished by spring 2009.
