I've got a few numbers to call tomorrow, but wondering if any of you have a personal recommendation for a local tree trimmer who's reasonable, timely, and basically good. I need to have some cedars along the back fence (neighbor's side) trimmed as they're hanging low and taking up my yardspace...also have a fallen apple tree that needs to go bye-bye (bad spot to begin with). A trimmer who'll haul would be a plus too.

Appreciate any feedback.

We interviewed a number of tree trimmers when we needed mistletoe taken out of 15+ trees and had to fell 2 large Oaks that had died...

We could not find a local company with both workers' comp and general liability insurance - we wanted a certificate of insurance naming us as additional insured's in case a tree fell on someone else or their property and caused damage or if an employee fell out of a tree while trimming...

We talked at that time with
Tip Top
Hudson Fisk
and one other local company... I think Advanced Tree???

We wanted to go local - but no insurance, no deal with me!

We eventually paid a bit more and went with a Fresno Tree Trimming Company - Newcomer will know the name. THey showed up on time, did a great job and had the insurance I wanted in place.

Interestingly enough, Fisk came by about 2 weeks ago to let us know he now has General Liability (in addition to the work comp he had a year ago when we were interviewing and having the work done). You might talk with them. They were going to be our first pick when we got estimates and interviewed... til we found out at that time they didn't have General Liability - but supposedly do now.

PM Monkey - she had a bad experience with a local tree trimming company that almost burnt her business down!

Hi Alice,

There is a guy in Oakhurst that is a member of our Dock association and is a good guy. I've watched him take down some trees neer our place.... I was impressed. He's company is located in Oakhurst as well. The name of his company is Tip Top Tree Service. I know he has several trucks and several crews so I'm sure he can do the whole job.

The name of the company that KK spoke of that we used was "Upright tree specialists" Phone is 559 434-6059

They were ontime, Insured and did exactly what they said they would very safely.

You might want to call Fisks Tree and Escavating. I don't recall his number right now, but he should be in the phone book or even that advertising paper we get in the mail. He did a lot of work for me and he does a good job. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

Hi, noticed your ad. I know of 2 tree trimmers, one is Glen Davis, he can fall a tree on a dime, the other is Wendell, very good.

I use Dan Medina, He has a handyman service and has done lots of stuff for me around here, including taking out a tree and trimming my trees after another company, cut them all up terrible.

Anyhow, He's really affordable and he is always on time and cleans up after himself, I would have never known a tree was there.

Any recommendations for the job? There are so many tree trimming outfits out there, I'd like to know who some of you might have used and if you were happy with their service and if the cost was reasonable.

Thanks.

I've used Dan Medina for my tree trimming, yardwork and all around handyman type stuff too.
His number is 642-6996

He shows up when he says he will, he cleans up after himself and he's reasonably priced.

That's funny. I forgot about my old tree trimming thread...needless to say, I didn't come away with that experience having a contact worth keeping. A couple of the tree trimmers I called back then (won't name names) actually came out to give estimates. I had decided to go with one and he didn't show up. So I thought, after a week, I'll just go with the other.. agreed on a date, but he too never showed up. Ended up paying a couple retired handymen to do the job. And they did alright...

But this new job...requires a little more skill and equipment.

I called Dan Medina...and he'll be out to give me an estimate. Funny thing, I had Dan's business card on our bulletin board at the restaurant. Great if he does trees...plus other stuff.

Steve McQueen with Yosemite Tree Service is great. His crew comes in does the job, cleans up, even cuts the wood / trimmings to the size you'd like and stacks it up. After all is done the crew rakes up and the place looks great. He is licensed, insured and very professional. 683-1248
