Hopefully the new owners will lower the prices. Way to expensive there.

Wow! I still remember when they started! I missed that "old country nursery" feeling it had when they were on 41 next to Bens Storage..... but the new store has had its advantages! I wonder what Robin and the mister will plan on doing if they sell it?
I hope that another *local* can and does buy it !!!

They have been talking for the last 2 years, and finally did it last week, its a little under 2 Mil. I would have love to take it over or manage it, but time and things have changed in my life.
They are going to be traveling a lot more than they do now, and maybe thinking about moving, which I'm always talking Robyn out of it...besides they just finished remodeling their home.
As for the comment of high prices, there is always Rite Aid, and now True Value, but the quality of the plants also matters to me, and those guys are not always the cheapest either, or your plants/flower choices are small compared to Sierra Western, also the clerks at these stores usually know nothing about plants, but there's always that drive to fresno to save a few pennys :D anyway I love their company and the knowledge of plants that do well in this type of mountain area, and how to take care of them, so if i do pay a few extra cents its worth it for me, besides I shop local.

Thats exactly why I do bring myself to pay the extra $. Their plants are of high quality and always last forever even though I'm not exactly a great greenthumb. we have purchased almost all our trees we have planted on our property recently from there. I believe in shopping locally, besides the $ I pay for gas these days makes up the difference. I always end up spending more when I go to fresno. But they are great people there. Always helpful and friendly. except for one time. when I asked to borrow/rent a walking cane for 1 day for a christmas play I was directing at church, they said no..And we were one of thier biggest customers..didnt go back for a while...whatever, different story.hope they enjoy the rest of their lives and live it to the fullest!.

I have always liked the nursery, too. I no longer purchase plants anywhere, though, as between all of the deer (they have "day beds" up against the workshop in the yard and even climb the steps up to my deck), wild pigs, birds and gophers, they eat or kill everything I plant. There were some cool wind chimes there, though, and other things that made good gifts.

I have always liked shopping at the stuff they have inside when I am picking up the plants. They have neat stuff! I'l miss them, they have run a good business that I enjoy frequenting.

Western Sierra Nursery always has been a wonderful asset to this community.
All the lovely roses I have came from there.
When it's gone, I'm sure people will complain too.

Bummer to hear. I always shop at Western and enjoy seeing them and all they have to offer.

I hear it's going up for 1.8 million. But I guess we can confirm that in the MLS.
