View Full Version : Tioga Glacier Roads

Just fyi for those that enjoy Fall travel...I checked Yosemite road conditions at 9 am and it said all were open ....I did this because my daughter was visiting and we were going to the eastern Sierra. Well we drove all the way to Tuolumne Grove before we were turned around because the road was closed. So do NOT rely on internet for information. When I got home I again checked and it now says call.... sheesh....it was not posted at entrance either but was on way back. This was a planned day trip so we couldn't wait the 3 hours they said it might be before it was open again.....anyway...Glacier road was closed also today...both temporary according to rangers.

I'll know tomorrow. I have to drive out to Tioga in the morning. If it's closed, I'll be home early.

The number to call for Yosemite area road conditions is (209) 372-0200. It is a recorded message that is updated every time road conditions change.

As of yesterday, the roads were open and dry. The snow is almost all gone.

And http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi works great, too.

Unfortunately, the camera at the Tioga entrance station seems to be broken for good.

Awww...I love that camera it feeds right into my annual bout of spring fever!!

Oooh! Oooh! The camera (http://tenaya.ucsd.edu/tioga/tioga/tioga_currenta.jpg) is working again ... at least sort of, for today (right now, it's showing an image from early this morning, rather than an afternoon image from last July :) )

Thanks :) I enjoyed the drive up there...there is still snow here and there along the road and of course lots of snow on the mountains which made it gorgeous.

Those really are very nice pics, but I always enjoy when you post pictures of your outings ! You have a talent for shooting great photo's!
