I have two big oak trees I need removed from my deck - when they go dormant - Who is the most reliable/qualified to do this in the area? Plus if at all possible competively priced.

A few years ago I found a couple fo great guys that worked for Madera graveyards & did this work on the side... don't have their number anymore - too bad they were very reliable & did a GREAT job.

Steve McQueen with Yosemite Tree Service 209-966-4040 or 559-683-1248 does wonderful work. He cleans up after the job is done. He'll cut and stack the wood for you when the work is completed.

I know it is hard to get someone to come out and give you a bid but I would not stop calling until I had gotten 3 or 4 bids. A good friend of mine is a widow and she does an unbelievable job of taking care of her property on her own. Tree trimming is one thing she can not do so she got a referal from a friend. The work she needed done was bidded out for a a little over $2,000. She accepted the bid but then slept on it and changed her mind. She called the tree guy first thing the next morning and just said, I don't think that is a good bid for the amount of work you are doing. After about 5 minutes of going back and forth with him they settled on $1,200 about half of the original bid. We recently had a huge irrigation job done on our property, had all of the drip system (black tubing) taken out and replaced with PVC pipe and sprinklers and bubblers. We got 4 bids and they ranged from $3,000 to $7,000. We took a bid in the middle because he had done work for us before and we had confidence in him. If I were you I would ask your neighbors and friends who they have used and been happy with. We have sure learned a lesson and that is to keep names and phone numbers of the people we like. At first we didn't because we thought we would never need them again. Didn't even think about friends that might want the referal. Another qustion that we have learned to ask is, are you going to be doing the work yourself? Some of these guys just ride around in a truck and give bids, then come out the morning of the project and get the guys started and you don't see them again until it is time to pick up the check. Often, the hard working men do not speak English, so if you want limbs moved because they have piled them on your neighbors property or something like this, you have no way of communicating with them. Good luck with this and every other project you need help with!

One that we have used here at the Mobile Park is CWC. Chad Williams.

He has a full service Tree Service and GE Contractor Services too~

The work done was great and the prices were very competitive.

See if you can find someone who'll dig them out of the ground and ship them to my property. I specialize in taking care of unwanted living trees.

I was reluctant to post on this because the person we recommend is ALWAYS the highest bid - sometimes, he can be reasoned with. The reason we like this company is because they have full insurance coverage, workers liabilit, etc., and are excellent to choose for work that is (a) close to your house where the tree could fall on it or (b) someone could die (tall trees). The name of the business is Hudson Fisk and we have had them remove 3 trees in 2 years and it cost a bunch but my husband in a Landscape Architect and likes to know that the proper insurance is in place. His kids go to OES.

For ground work, we had Getter Done and they were great, although not everyone agrees! Fisk, sometimes you have to call him a couple of times, but if you have some time flexibility, they will bring their equipment when they are on their way down the hill for other work. They do a lot of work in fire season, clearing for the firefighters.

Good luck!

I appreciate your addition - I do have concerns with the trees being so large & so close to the house... so the insurance is important. Will follow up with them as well. Thanks.
