Yosemite Tri-Tip Express (the old Snowline) opens on Tuesday the 28th of October.

I've seen the menu and I know the Chef. Heck, I've even been using his rib recipe for the last 10 yrs. I wish them all the best!!

Parking isn't as bad as I had thought. There is a good sized lower lot and they have been given the go ahead to use the Golden Chain Theater as overflow parking.

It's both. I went in there a few weeks ago. The old Jade Gazebo bar moved up there, so it's the "Jade" crowd. They do karaoke and such...

I went by there today and saw the Sysco food truck and a beer truck parked, with people bustling about making preparations for their opening tomorrow. I still hate that location, though...rough for making a left turn toward Oakhurst. I think it's nice that they got permission to use the theater's parking lot for overflow, but I sure wouldn't want to make a mad dash across 41 right there to go back and forth. Scary to think that people who have been drinking might be doing this, and maybe some in high heels!

Good point Cat. I sure wouldn't want to cross the street right there.

I wouldnt be comfortable crossing the road there either...... ~ I would opt for the extra parking down the hill, but then the climb up the hill? could be a whole lot *trickier* after someones had a *few* to head back down, especially in the dark.... ~

~~> Ok, I'll admit it. I can be a real clutz without having had a few....better just drop me off at the door first..... !:drink::bonk:

I had trouble finding handicapped parking. If they are going to expect people to climb a hill or cross a highway, they should at least make sure handicapped parking is available for those that cant play frogger or climb big hills.

There are a few clearly marked handicapped spaces right up front. Maybe, just maybe...since you were there before they were officially opened they hadn't been painted in yet??????

While, yes, there are some of the familiar 'Jade' faces there, I have noticed all kinds of new faces in there as well. I didn't know anyone but Sandy the Bar-Babe in there earlier this evening.

Ya know, I remember having parked at the theater and not having any trouble getting back over to my truck. Not a lot of traffic there the later it gets. But yes, it can still be a tricky left hand turn.

Actually, I believe the bartenders were parked there.

The bartenders were parking up front when the place was still not actually/technically open. That has since changed.

Good to know. I went several weeks ago and was told it was Grand Opening night. A tour bus full of visitors in Halloween costumes were there. The place was packed. I was in the process of quitting smoking cigs, so I didn't like walking past all the smokers to get in the door. I hope they find a better solution for a smoking area. I waited for a long time to get a drink, then someone walked right up next to me and got service immediately. So, I waited a bit longer. When they finally got to me, I was told that they couldn't take credit cards and I had no cash on me, so I left. I understand it takes a new business a while to get the kinks worked out. But I'm pretty happy with my usual watering hole, The Oak Room. I'll give the Snowline another try I'm sure.

Tri Tip Express -- (9.44 :):):):):):):):):) )

Now we’re talkin’! Woo Wee… you get a lot of grub for your gold coin here I tell ya. I had enuff left over to bring with me on the trail. The owners (very nice folks) were right there on site and the chef (owner) even took the time to come out and greet me. I just loved watchin’ him ring the cowboy bell (“order’s up!”) 'Minded me of being at camp in the high country.

I'm Cactus Kate, self-appointed Mountain restaurant taster, er, critiquer. I like eatin' out and hate to cook, so you'll be seein' lots of these here critiques.

Fer those of you that haven't been to Tri Tip Express, its a restaurant and bar located off Highway 41 at what us locals likes to call “Snowline”. Its good to see it put back to its rightful use. Its decorated eclectic like, but that’s ok by me. The view over Oakhurst is mighty fine (so who's gonna notice a little thang like mix-matched chairs and tables). The bar area, which I did not partake from… yet… looked mighty fine too.

3x times for me too... I even have the last restaurants Logo shirt.

love the views from the deck at night, but always hated the parking, and I would never park to cross the street to get there, unless there was an walking overpass, because we all know how fast some people can drive through there, I think I'd just wait until another day to visit, also Sandman is correct about the smoking, they used to smoke right next to the open door by the bar, and used to get pretty bad, not sure if its the same set-up now, it sure is a nice location, but the lot was always too small for packing the people in.

Apologies, edited your quote a bit for my purpose Mibrew. Sounds like a parking lot shuttle would be quite practical if the theatre lets 'em use their lot.

I have eaten there 2 times now. First time I had the Tri Tip Sandwich and it was great. amd the second time I got the 1/2 slab of the pork ribs (MAN O MAN) that was a huge slab I am gald I did noit get the full because I have a large appetite and i still ended up taking 1/2 home. It was about 10" by 8" in size. I will be going nack for the steak sandwich next time. :) Parking did not seem to be a problem. They have more now in back lot if needed. I did see some smoking outside by the door to the bar but did not smell any in the restaraunt. If I did I would not eat there.

I think Newcomer is addicted!

He took me to Tri Tip Express tonight. I asked if I could taste the sauce before we ordered. I told them I like a sweet BBQ sauce. They put extra honey in and it was perfect. So I had, what else, a Tri Tip sandwich and onion rings - it was really right on the money. (FYI: if what you order doesn't come with BBQ sauce on the menu, then its $1 extra for an ounce of sauce.) Their ranch dressing was really good too. They make their own Ranch dressing and BBQ sauce they said.
