True according to Snopes:
/search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=chocolate+coins+contain+melamine

WARNING: Some Chocolate Gold-wrapped coins (some sold in bulk at COSTCO and others sold at dollar stores and other retailers) have been recalled due to overseas manufacture in China and the possibility that the Gold-wrapped chocolate coins contain melamine which has been responsible for death in infants and illness in others.

Better safe than sorry? Perhaps confiscate all chocolate coins: (and not the way I confiscate other chocolate, i.e.: into my mouth). Gold wrapped foil chocolate coins should be thrown out.

Happy, Safe, Haunting!

Thanks for this Kellie~ I will pass the info on! and btw!

Everyone is aware of the "bad" candy posters that most doctors offices have posted in them? I hope? Regarding foreign candy that gets imported to the US? ( from Mexico ) and can make our kids sick???

If not Rural Health Clinic has one posted in their lobby.

and there are a few other candy recalls too~

"The California Department of Public Health specifically identified White Rabbit candies imported and distributed by Queensway Foods Co. of Burlingame, Calif. Queensway is voluntarily recalling the chewy sweets after state testing detected melamine in some pieces. The White Rabbit candies distributed by Queensway come in various flavors, including vanilla, red bean, coffee, corn, lychee, coconut, chocolate, mango and strawberry cream. All varieties have a picture of a white rabbit with a black background on the top of the bag." (Source the LA TIMES)

I just called my daughter-in-law in Idaho to let her know about the candy warnings. She knew about the chocolate coins but hadn't heard anything about candy from other countries.
Meg, 2, is going trick or treating as Sleeping Beauty and her 8 year old brother Andrew is going as The Grimm Reeper, what are your little mosters dressing up as?
