Yosemite Gateway Restaurant -- (8.44 :):):):):):):):) )

Wells, I ‘cided to come on down from da high country fer a while; seeing I’ze found lots of ore, and treat myself to a right nice night out. I gussied myself up and headed to a new grub dealer on old route 41, the Yosemite Gateway Restaurant.

I'm Cactus Kate, self-appointed Mountain restaurant taster, er, critiquer. I like eatin' out and hate to cook, so you'll be seein' lots of these here critiques.

Fer those of you that haven't been to Yosemite Gateway, its a restaurant and bar, it’s a little too high falutin for the likes of me with all its decoratin (like a French chateau or sumthing like it) and its oversized paintings and flowers all over the walls. The bar area though, looks like Hawaii (or so I’ze been told. I ain’t gonna git on no boat ever to go see. If it ain't my trusty mule, I ain't riding on it.) It has lava rocks and a tropical feel.

Is that the restaurant with a grand piano in the dining room? They asked Aaron Neilson if he wanted a job there playing piano (if that's the same place). We need more live music in Oakhurst. Most of the culture in this town is in the yogurt at Von's and Raley's.

Kate--

So good to see you here again! You have been missed.

I agree with you on the service. We were wll taken care of. The Mister's meal was better than mine; as mine was missing ingredients that were listed on the menu, but his still had it's short comings. We would rate the food about the same way you did too. We decided we will have to try them again before making a decision about the place one way or the other.

This is the resturant in front of the Best Western Hotel - has changed hands many many times in the last few years.

The Best Western Corporation its self is running the restaurant now. No longer privately owned.

Nice menu, good prices, good beer and wine choices, and above average food. I liked it!

You are welcome. Yes, I am new. I recently dicovered this forum by accident while searching for yosemite area history. I like to eat out, and if the place seems good, I talk about it here. My current favorite is Woody's, but I also like Gateway, Ducey's, Casa Velasco, El Cid and taste of China, oh yes Oka is good too.

There will be live music tomorrow night, Friday the 24th. Green Machine is a great Reggae band. If there's a good turnout they will try more live music on Friday nights. Saturday nights they have Kit and Kaboodle at the piano and I believe they are going to have Kareoke (sp) a couple nights a week also. So come on out and support them. See ya there!

That is one of the things I like about Ducey's. They have live music in at least 1 location every wknd. Food and beer are not over priced at their Lake side grill. We had a burger, fries and a beer there last wknd. It cost us less than $15.00 each for the meal and the music.
