I gave it an average altho it was between poor and average. Drinks higher than most local bars, and well, less..less cold on the beer, and less potent on the mixed. The bands (except for Stone River) frequently are crap. Last year I got to hear a band that looked (and sounded) like a mariachi band playing rock. I won't go there. Not anymore. Not since they let Robbo leave. Where the hell is Robbo working now?

Is that where he went? I never go to the casino. He used to work the Pines. I didn't know where he went.

i'm not very social, so i didn't care for that aspect of the pines.
i also dislike the cover charge, the in-attentiveness (is that a word? it is now) of the bartenders, and the expensive, poorly made drinks.
but that's just me http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

I hope this is genuine and not for my benefit. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

We've finally given up on the Pines - we liked to stop there after a playing up Beasore Road or out past North Fork. Beer prices are OK, but the appetizers got worse and worse and the service became intolerable. Better to just drive a little farther to Mountain House, where they are always glad to see customers and treat them well.

I have to agree with TOT...The Pines Bar does not quite fit into the realm of the the single girl on a budget. The cover charge can be haggled....using a 'but, I'm a local' whine. But why should I even have to go there?
The other thing I have always had a problem with at The Pines is a cover charge and 'band' priced drinks. I have worked in many bars over the lastr 20+ years...it's an either or type situation. Getting customers to pay a cover charge to pay for the band and them charging them .75 to a $1 more for drinks (also supposedly to pay for the band) is not, to me, good customer relations. If I pay $5 to get in and then have 5 drinks....I have now paid $10 to hang out at the Pines. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/no.gif I just have a problem with that.
That my drink of prefernce is $3 at most area bars and $5 to $6 (seems to depend on who is working as to what price is charged) is also confusing to me....that is if you can get a drink.

Well, i went to The Pines Bar again this weekend. It was a lot better this time, still not really my cup of tea, but it was nice to see it can be a tolerable place.
There was a band that played pretty good from what i could hear, but we didn't get charged the cover charge. Greg was there, and i've heard he makes good drinks, but i went with somethin' bottled anyway. Took maybe 3 minutes, tops, to get our drinks.
It wasn't too crowded and the majority of the group seemed a bit older.
Some would probably prefer more people of a younger age, but not me.
Just thought i'd share http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
