Now that the Yarn Barn is gone, I don't know where to look for knitting/crocheting yarn locally. I don't need anything fancy, just ordinary yarn, in green, red, maybe a bit of yellow and other bright colors. I want to give the yarn to somebody who can't afford it, but wants to make a Christmas stocking for her brand-new granddaughter. I am hoping to avoid a trip to the valley or even Coarsegold, since I live in North Fork. Maybe this is something I can find at Raley's or Vons?

That is a good yarn shop. You might want to check out Saturday Market also. It is a fun store to go into every once in a while, they get new stuff all the time and the young couple who own it are just so darn nice. I think I will take a trip over next week and see if they have some stocking stuffers and fill in gifts.

We & some friends just tried out the Sat. market for the first time today - it was great, we got some books and doodads. The onlly problem was finding the road that went down to it. We missed it the first time and ended up at the new snowline restaurant which was infiltrated with Clampers!! Was going to try and have lunch there but the "red shirts" took up all the parking places! I think they were having a meeting or something. Anyhow, it was a nice little flea market and will go back again. Seems like they have different stuff all the time, according to conversations.

How nice it is to know you, you have such a nice shop. I wish you carried cross stitch fabric and thread. I would be in your store ALL the time. I love to cross stitch. My mother-in-law is 94 and lives in Connecticut. She has a live in care giver named Slava. She is from the Ukraine and does the most beautiful cross stitch I have ever seen in my life, as pretty from the back as the front. You do not want to look at the back of my work. I love to send and bring her cross stitch items. In fact, I am going to Fresno to Joannes Fabric today to get stuff to mail her for Christmas. If you ever do decide to carry cross stitch items I would love to know about it. Are all of your classes at night? I would love to take a day time class, I do not drive at night. Again, it is nice to know you.

Hi "abitofyarn"...thank you for responding to my request, and thank you for helping to spread the Christmas spirit of generosity. The yarn I buy from your shop will be transformed by a loving grandmother into a "Baby's First Christmas" treasure. It will make a lot of people feel good.
I love knitting and crocheting, so count me as a grateful customer. I am so glad to have a local yarn shop once again.

Hi Dancingqueen,
I do carry some cross stitch kits, needlepoint kits, looms and craft kits for kids. If you tell me what it is your looking for I would be more than happy to order it for you. That's one of my rules of business. If I don't have it I can or should I say I will do my best to get it for you. Lots of customers want a color that's been discontinued and sometimes I just can't find any for them. I think Bear Paw Quilts carry's the items you seek. I do try not to step on other businesses toes by carrying items that they carry. However, if you can't find it there or it's not what you want by all means let me know and I'll hunt it down LOL!
We will give you a class when it's convenient for you to come in. Whether that be a Monday, Thur, Sat etc. Wednesday is "formally" our class day and we have them 11a - 1p and then 4p - 6p. Keep in mind though that when you come in for a class we don't cut you off after 2 hours. I've had customers come in at 11 and not leave until 4. We do not charge anymore for the extra time. It's a straight $15. You can also get a "Quickie" card for $30 if you just need a bit of help and then you take your project home to work on at your leisure. You get 10 half hour sessions with this card. Otherwise our 1/2 hour sessions are $5 ea so your saving $20.
If you have any other questions just let me know.

P.S. If you go into my store and I'm not there just tell Babette, the lady that works with me that you've been talking to me.

I know the baby and the parents will cherish this stocking for years to come. I have a Christmas stocking that my Grandmother made for me...granted it's just a general stocking and she wrote my name with glitter on it, which is pretty ragged now, but I cherish that stocking more than anything else I have. I also have a stocking that was made for my mom by her grandmother with seqins all over it and I still have that stocking as well. Babette, the lady that works with me makes some "unbelieveable" stockings for people each Christmas and they are truely pieces of art! She also makes snowmman hats, reindeer hats and I'm trying to get her to make me a Grinch hat LOL!! I just love the Grinch

Thanks so much Mary I will be in soon. I went to Joannes today and left the lines were so long I just can not handle that. They have 6 registers and 3 are open for Christmas shoppers, they just chased me back up the hill.
