I have hundreds of the darn things. Most have programs dating back to my DOS days. Nothing worth keeping. What can I do with them? I don't want to send them to the dumps... sorry... sanitary land fill. Does anyone one know of a recycler for these things?

I found those sites. I was just wondering if there was anything local.

I just got an idea though.... roof shingles on the dog house I'm going to make.

It should work. Each disc has two nail holes at the top.

How about making a "ginger bread house"....( basing this on all of the many colors they made these discs in..) for a Christmas decoration? I think that would be kinda cute if you could pull it off....heck you could even light it....

That would be a big wind chime (if they'd chime). I have almost 400 of them. It would be more like a giant mobile than a wind chime. I could do that though.... I wonder if I could sell it on Ebay?

I make real ginger bread houses. They're easy. Taste good too.

David _V,

I made a real ginger bread house one year with the kids..... it was soooooo much work, but it was loads of fun too! We all had a blast~ (Hated to eat the thing really!)

It took us hours to make.....and probably less than a half an hour for everyone to eat! ;) So after that I just made Gingerbread men cookies...rofl!

I would love to see yours! Have any pics of any you have made?

Olaf, do you have a recipe for kind of soft, chewy gingerbread men? I have a wonderful ginger snap recipe but I was thinking I would like to make some gingerbread men this year. I watched The View yesterday while wrapping gifts and Woopie got me hungry for them. A little soft, a little chewy, a little thick, ymmmmm. Lets see how can I tie this into a 3.5 floppy thread. Sorry.

I wish I did have a soft and chewy recipe! but I dont. The best I have ever managed to do, is after I have baked them up is to put them into an air tight container with a piece of bread! That seems to soften up even the hardest of crunchy cookies...lol ~ but only while you eat them. The bread has to remain in the container or they dry out fast :(

Lets see here, tie this in with floppy disks.... I now see a dozen gingerbread men cookies sitting on a cookie sheet with brightly colored squares of floppy discs sticking out of them.....(like confetti)

NOT fit for human consumption ;) but funny to look at anyway.... (sorry as bad as that is, its the best I could come up with!!! ha!)

Bet David_V will come up with *something*..... He's pretty creative!

I haven't made mine this year... yet.... but it will be stormy this weekend and that wold be a good project.

I'll take pictures.

I went to a meeting of the Audubon Society in Mariposa tonight. That gave me a great idea - I could make little bird houses with the disks. It shouldn't be too hard to glue them together. I wonder if the birds would have too much self respect to use them?

David,
RE: I wonder if the birds would have too much self respect to use them?

I would think the "hi tech" birds would like them. Of couse, I don't know if we have any of those around here. :)

Here's an idea.

Make Xmas cards out of them and give them away. If they are black, you might have to paste a square of paper or something on them. But, then the people you give them to have the problem.
