Where have all of you world travelers gotten your passports? Can anyone give me a very simple breakdown of the process? Is there anywhere in oakhurst to do this, or am I Fresno bound? Thanks.

Hi,
We just got 4 passports for our cruise in June.
You can go to U.S Department of State(I think) or www.travel.state.gov (http://www.travel.state.gov) site. Fill out all the papers online and take them with you. That's what we did. And then go to Mariposa to file the paperwork and pay.

Thanks Lisa. I was there most of the morning and seem to be hitting a lot of walls concerning my adoption, name changes, and original birth cert. This was supposed to be a fun trip, right http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/rolleyes2.gif

cali... do you have adoption papers? that should do you for getting the passport. another way is you can get someone who has known you for a number of yrs... and can sign a paper stating that you are who you are with your name.

You can go to Madera court house for the passport.. and believe me, its MUCH MUCH less headache than going to Fresno. You can also go to the post office in Clovis (bullard and villa) they do passports.

You also might be able to get a passport in Mariposa as it is the county seat. I got mine renewed there several years ago.

Yeeeup! Thats what Im going to end up doing. I ordered my original birth certificate (hope I got that county right), got all of my adoption papers together, my name change papers, a new CA license since my picture got destroyed at an OF gathering http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif, and my marriage certificate. Thats a whole lotta trouble for one week out of the US.

Talk with Terra, I believe I remember that you can get a passport at her post office. And she can give you good info on the process.

I think (but I'm old and have old-timer's memory) that it's the Awahnee one. I know she told me when my parents were going to apply for one that they could apply at her post office.

whoops, bad me, it's the O'Neals post office (I just did a search). Told ya I had no memory worth a darn. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif The topic was Passports Required in 2006, from July 2005.

I did the hoop jumping ordeal as well! My Birth Certificate w/ the raised seal is glued into my baby book...not acceptable. Send for a new 'official' copy w/ raised seal and it arrived sans seal. Lucky for me, I had family living in my home town so I sent my Grandpa to the court house to get another copy and had him mail it to me. Seems like I remember all of this took an extra long amount of time and my passport arrived just days before my trip.

Renewal is much easier and a passport even when expired is always a valid proof of ID

make sure you have your passport pictures with you too. I recently did mine at the Mariposa County Clerks office.

Hey Messy?
Could you let me know if you find out for sure, because we do passport photo's where I work, but keep being told that O'neals doesn't do it anymore, but I keep thinking they did. I guess I could call and find out. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/freak.gif
