Last night was the first night of Chanukkah, the festival of light.
The Maccabees hated Greek rule, so they and others rebelled and won. When they went to the temple to clean it up, they found only one day's worth of oil for the lamps & liturgical needs.
Oil used in the temple took 8 days to prepare.
The one-day supply of oil lasted 8 days.
I dont know much about the Jewish faith, but I hold it in reverence as for me the holiday celebrates light, miracles, the right to live out our values & religious beliefs, and the responsibility to do so.
