Hi Everyone,
Come spring and summer I'd love to go riding and I'd like to find some local friends to ride with. I live part time in Oakhurst and the other part in the Bay Area.

I'm a newbie rider...just started last year and I don't have a big powerful bike like most be I'd be willing to take some small rides around the area..I don't have a big gas tank either
Oh and I have some other friends who ride too so they might be interested.

BooBooBear; sure, short rides fine. I just like to get out once in a while in the fresh air. You probably know some nice short rides that would be fun. My bike now is a Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc but my first bike (many many years ago mind you) was a Honda 175. I rode that 175 from So Cal through Oregon and Washington and back. Most thought I was nuts, but I learned alot from that bike and it was fun.
If there isn't one already, it would be fun to pull some riders together of all types of bikes to ride local rides once in a while.

Mine is a Honda Rebel 250 so I'll be tagging along behind LOL!! That's o.k. with me though...as I said last summer was my first time on the highways. I mainly ventured around the Coarsegold area. I used to ride dirt bikes but I didn't have to be watching out for everyone else :) I haven't even made it over Deadwood yet...need my friends to flank me in the front and back so I don't get to nervous if cars get mad that I'm not going fast enough to suit them  My friends that I mentioned both have Harleys and they were great about just letting me get comfy at my own pace. I haven't done any of the local rides yet because I'm so new and still get a little nevous but that will change with time and rides.

First, don't think sidecars feel safe. I had one on my Gold Wing and when I lifted it off the ground, my passenger got REAL nervous. :)
I started on the smaller bikes many years ago and eventually worked up to a Harley. Then over to a Gold Wing (with side car) and now all the way down to a motor scooter. But, I still ride on two wheels and wave at everyone too. :)

I think this is great. It would be fun to organize a short ride together maybe in a month or so and get acquainted. We could ride somewhere and have lunch. Someone suggested Jones' Store. I've never been there but it sounds interesting.

You need to make sure they're open, first. I think they open around Memorial Day. I was up there right before they closed for the season and again after it snowed. The cabin was accessible by snowmobile only...It's a great day trip, you head up Beasore to get there...

We have been there many times. It is a late spring/summer/early fall ride since it is at 7000 feet. It is fun to go to Mile High View point and then to Jones for a piece of homemade pie! Mile High is at 5000 feet so even that is still snowed in, I quess?

I'm always looking for riders in the area. I actually run a area motorcycle forum but not sure if I can post it up here. :)

Not too many members up here, mostly down in the valley. I've ridden with a lot of members and I'm looking forward to getting some more local riders on the forum. :)
We have monthly meet and greets and the next one is probably going to be at the Frosty in Coarsgold. :) I hope some of you can make it out and acquaint yourself with some of the riders that I have met via the forum. :)

Hi there! Did you really just create the "Yosemite Area Motorcylists social group", or were you just kidding? We have belonged to a couple of clubs in the past. The one we loved the most was a Safe and Sober club that encouraged non-alcoholic beverages for all drivers, however, they are located quite a distance from us and joining their rides was getting inconvenient. My husband has a BMW GS1200, and we are going to start bringing our Kawasaki 250 up with us when we come. I will admit though, my derry-air gets quite numb if we go too far on it! I 'fit' better on the 1200! When we get up there permanently, we'll definitey join the YAMSG!!!!

Guess I better get my bike out and ready to start riding now that the weather is perking up. Fair warning though...I'm a really new STREET rider only started last year. Have ridden dirt bikes since I was a kid but as you know that's a whole different situation...not really having to watch out for the crazy drivers on the road that don't see you!!
