Perhaps the Oakhurst Forums crew can get together one day for some community service work. I am not all that great with manual labor, but I'll contribute what I can. I'll run banners on the site, will send out a mass email to members and I'll even try to contribute a few bucks for paint or whatever supplies are needed. If we all split the cost and the labor, it could be done real cheap and quickly. Bring the kids and make it a family event. We spend a lot on food and drinks at out gatherings... lets have a gathering with cheaper food and drinks and use the extra money for this community service! If it's work at the park... we can make a big event out of it and BBQ some food. Sounds like fun and would give back to the community.

I think this is an excellent idea to call in the troops for a big clean-up effort.

Not to discount this idea one bit, but I think that graffiti and vandalism of any sort should be addressed with urgency...there should be someone on it right away and erasing it with paint, ink-remover, sanding...whatever it takes. I don't know if Oakhurst has a system in place that works within their own park-maintenance. This park isn't county run, but community run. Maybe graffiti hasn't been a problem in the recent past or if it has, is it handled quickly or does it take long? Anyone know? I, personally, am going to pay a visit to the park tomorrow to see if there's any evidence of all the "white power" and double lightning symbols (a neo-nazi symbol) that Yosemite Joy had recently described was there. If it's still there...then it's been too long in my opinion. I haven't been to the park in a long time...but I'm going to make a point to go tomorrow and see what's going on. If it's still there, I'm going to make a loud complaint to somebody...and if there's anything I can do...we can do...I'll let you know, in regard to fixing the worst of the graffiti and defacing of property NOW. Hopefully, it's already been taken care of.

Check out all the symbols neo-nazi groups use http://www.adl.org/hate_symbols/default_graphics.asp Be aware of them...I had know idea what most of these meant...but each one has a meaning. To learn what they are, just click on each symbol.

I didn't go by the park - should have, but a drive-by in front of the Sierra Star building and a sign there is graffiti marked as well as one of the trash cans by the between the Community College/Chamber of Commerce Bldg/Library - FYI
