Not at all! I think he is going to go down on record for being the worst President ever. What good has he done? I can name a lot of bad things, but can't think of anything good.

From a web site for kids:
The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the United States. The Supreme Court hears cases that have made their way through the court system, but of the more than 7,500 cases that are sent to the Supreme Court each year, only about 80 to 100 cases are actually accepted. Once the Supreme Court makes a decision, it can only be changed by another Supreme Court decision or by amending (changing) the Constitution. This is a very important power that can affect the lives of a lot of people. Also, since the main power of the Supreme Court is to decide cases that challenge the Constitution, the Court must decide if the case they receive really challenges the Constitution.
The Supreme Court is made up of nine Justices. One of these is the Chief Justice. They are appointed by the President and must be approved by the Senate. Justices have their jobs for life, unless they resign, retire, or are impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate (the removal process as described by the Constitution).
There are no requirements in order to be appointed a Justice, but all have been trained in the law. Many Justices served as members of Congress, governors, or members of the President's Cabinet. One president, William Howard Taft, was later appointed Chief Justice.

But there is more. She was Bush's personal attorney when he was Gov. She was a chair person for the TX Lottery Commission.
Here's a couple of good quotes:
[MSNBC]
"Only minutes after Bush appeared at the White House Monday to announce the nomination, Manuel Miranda, a conservative strategist and former aide to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist issued a scathing statement: "The reaction of many conservatives today will be that the president has made possibly the most unqualified choice since Abe Fortas, who had been the president's lawyer. The nomination of a nominee with no judicial record is a significant failure for the advisers that the White House gathered around it."
"The Miers choice will likely be a disappointment to conservatives who hoped Bush would choose someone with a stronger "originalist" record.
[FOX NEWS]
"It looks like he flinched," commented Fox News analyst Bill Kristol. "It looks like a capitulation."
Hey John, aren't you supposed to be upset?
How rude of you to put a kid's site as reference when explaining something to someone.
That sort of low blow bull**** is unneccessary and childish.

Oh and to answer the original topic question..
heh.
Bush deserves to get impeached just like Clinton was. Not for the same reasons, but for worse ones. The people who follow and adore Bush like lil' lambs must of had lobotomies back in 2000.

Ok, I know someone is going to totally kick my butt for this one , but here it goes.
It worried me a bit that Bush seems to be appointing so many people to different offices not necessarily based on experience, but solely based on who is in his little circle. That is scary, because these people hold high positions and things aren't balanced as they should be.
I admit I'm not all that knowledgeable about politics and could be WAY off here. But that just seems to be what I've noticed.

You have a right to your opinion Myst, and its good to hear them, but John helped people understand, that its just not Bush hand picking these people, all Presidents hand pick who they want to appoint, and then its decided by the Senate.
Its kinda like 2 team captains picking a team, you pick who you thinks best and can help carry the team to a victory.
That goes for all Presidents, no matter what ya hear on these threads.

I support our Twice elected President.
He has done more things for more people than anyother president. Un-employment is down, poverty entitlements are the largest ever, far more than Clinton ever dreamed of.
His choices for Court appointees are people i his circle of life, what's wrong with that ? He knows exactly what the nation will recieve from these appointees.
Life is about who you know and who you trust , tell me you have never recieved a job from a friend or family member or that you have ever recieved help from the same. That's our way of life, It may not seem fair or even just, but it does work if you give things time to prove themselves and their results.
I do support my President and I'm Proud to be an American. I might not agree 100% of the time with Bush, but I do respect his office and his choices.
Bush does what he feels is right for the country and not for his own personal gain.
I think the Question in this thread should be what Democrate could lead this country as president? That's a very scary thought, so it's just easier to defame Bush and point fingers.
7 of the last 10 presidents have been Republican, there's a trend to do what's best for our well being and that is Republican, that is Bush last election and again in this one.
Democrates can try again in a few years, once they have found some type of leader.

I was going to respond to the preposterous claim about unemployment, but I see that you already did. I really do doubt that even faux news would say such blatant lies that are easily debunked.
About the poverty entitlements Keith speaks of... I don't know whether or not he means from a National or International standpoint. It is true that we give more (but very, very little) to the poorest regions in the world. Maybe he is talking about taxes? The 1500 dollar tax credit maybe? I am not sure. We are very very much in the red as a country, and though I doubt that Keith will read this post, we borrow constantly from Asia, etc to survive as a country. The poverty is better speal does sound like a Faux News type of cliche. Poverty is not better, the poor are worse off.
THIS (http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411749/616801) is from mere hours ago. Really Keith, pick up a newspaper once in awhile, or change the station or something. Denial is such a frightening thing.

As of August 2005, our unemployment rate was at 4.9%. Yes, it went up from the 4.0% when Bush first came into his presidency...but remember, our economy took a very serious hit. Have we forgotten September 11th, just 9 months into W's first term? Besides that and before that, our economy was going into a cyclic mild recession...Bush came into that. It didn't just develop when he moved into the White House.
As much as I'd like to look at your graph and think I'm seeing some sort of causation between presidential administration and unemployment rates...it's not there for me. Coorelation never means causation to me.
And really, if you look at the true statistical figures such as those shown here at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, http://stats.bls.gov/cps/prev_yrs.htm Unemployment during George W's time in office looks pretty dang good considering the times we're in...the hits our economy has endured. In fact, even with all the hard knocks and punches, our national unemployment rate in the overall picture looks better than it did in Clinton's first 4 years. And Carter's fer goodness sakes!
Like anything in life with it's peaks and valleys...the economy and unemployment go up and down. It has much to do with the general public sentiment and attitudes toward spending. Feeling flush? Feeling tight? Feeling scared? Feeling confident? It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with who sits in the Oval Office but many o' things...and I'm just not in the mood for counting all the ways.
Carry on you Michael Moores and Rush Limbaughs. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif I'm going to sit this one out on my Independent, mildly Conservative, mildly Liberal a$$. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

Articles of Impeachment
of
President George W. Bush
and
Vice President Richard B. Cheney,
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, and
Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from
Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and
Misdemeanors. - - ARTICLE II, SECTION 4 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald H.
Rumsfeld, and Attorney General John David Ashcroft have committed violations and
subversions of the Constitution of the United States of America in an attempt to carry out with
impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes and deprivations of the civil rights
of the people of the United States and other nations, by assuming powers of an imperial
executive unaccountable to law and usurping powers of the Congress, the Judiciary and those
reserved to the people of the United States, by the following acts:
1) Seizing power to wage wars of aggression in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, the U.N. Charter and the rule of law;
carrying out a massive assault on and occupation of Iraq, a country that was not threatening the United States, resulting
in the death and maiming of tens of thousands of Iraqis, and hundreds of U.S. G.I.s.
2) Lying to the people of the U.S., to Congress, and to the U.N., providing false and deceptive rationales for war.
3) Authorizing, ordering and condoning direct attacks on civilians, civilian facilities and
locations where civilian casualties were unavoidable.
4) Threatening the independence and sovereignty of Iraq by belligerently changing its
government by force and assaulting Iraq in a war of aggression.
4) Authorizing, ordering and condoning assassinations, summary executions, kidnappings, secret
and other illegal detentions of individuals, torture and physical and psychological coercion of
prisoners to obtain false statements concerning acts and intentions of governments and
individuals and violating within the United States, and by authorizing U.S. forces and agents
elsewhere, the rights of individuals under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments
to the Constitution of the United States, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
5) Making, ordering and condoning false statements and propaganda about the conduct of foreign
governments and individuals and acts by U.S. government personnel; manipulating the media
and foreign governments with false information; concealing information vital to public
discussion and informed judgment concerning acts, intentions and possession, or efforts to obtain
weapons of mass destruction in order to falsely create a climate of fear and destroy opposition to
U.S. wars of aggression and first strike attacks.
6) Violations and subversions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, both a
part of the "Supreme Law of the land" under Article VI, paragraph 2, of the Constitution, in an
attempt to commit with impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes in wars and
threats of aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq and others and usurping powers of the United
Nations and the peoples of its nations by bribery, coercion and other corrupt acts and by rejecting
treaties, committing treaty violations, and frustrating compliance with treaties in order to destroy
any means by which international law and institutions can prevent, affect, or adjudicate the
exercise of U.S. military and economic power against the international community.
7) Acting to strip United States citizens of their constitutional and human rights, ordering
indefinite detention of citizens, without access to counsel, without charge, and without
opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the
discretionary designation by the Executive of a citizen as an "enemy combatant."
8) Ordering indefinite detention of non-citizens in the United States and elsewhere, and without
charge, at the discretionary designation of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Defense.
9) Ordering and authorizing the Attorney General to override judicial orders of release of
detainees under INS jurisdiction, even where the judicial officer after full hearing determines a
detainee is wrongfully held by the government.
10) Authorizing secret military tribunals and summary execution of persons who are not citizens
who are designated solely at the discretion of the Executive who acts as indicting official,
prosecutor and as the only avenue of appellate relief.
11) Refusing to provide public disclosure of the identities and locations of persons who have
been arrested, detained and imprisoned by the U.S. government in the United States, including in
response to Congressional inquiry.
12) Use of secret arrests of persons within the United States and elsewhere and denial of the right
to public trials.
13) Authorizing the monitoring of confidential attorney-client privileged communications by the
government, even in the absence of a court order and even where an incarcerated person has not
been charged with a crime.
14) Ordering and authorizing the seizure of assets of persons in the United States, prior to
hearing or trial, for lawful or innocent association with any entity that at the discretionary
designation of the Executive has been deemed "terrorist."
15) Institutionalization of racial and religious profiling and authorization of domestic spying by
federal law enforcement on persons based on their engagement in noncriminal religious and
political activity.
16) Refusal to provide information and records necessary and appropriate for the constitutional
right of legislative oversight of executive functions.
17) Rejecting treaties protective of peace and human rights and abrogation of the obligations of
the United States under, and withdrawal from, international treaties and obligations without
consent of the legislative branch, and including termination of the ABM treaty between the
United States and Russia, and rescission of the authorizing signature from the Treaty of Rome
which served as the basis for the International Criminal Court.

On a positive note... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
President Bush .....
1. Banned Partial Birth Abortion â by far the most significant roll-back of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade.
2. Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy.
3. By Executive Order (EO), reversed Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act.
4. By EO, prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services.
5. Upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals.
6. Made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in 2004.
7. Supports the Defense of Marriage Act â and a Constitutional amendment saying marriage is between one man and one woman.
8. Requires states to conduct criminal background checks on prospective foster and adoptive parents.
9. Requires districts to let students transfer out of dangerous schools.
10. Requires schools to have a zero-tolerance policy for classroom disruption (reintroducing discipline into classrooms).
11. Signed the Teacher Protection Act, which protects teachers from lawsuits related to student discipline.
12. Expanded the role of faith-based and community organizations in after-school programs.
Budget, Taxes & Economy
1. Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history.
2. Supports permanent elimination of the death tax.
3. Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
4. Is seeking legislation to amend the Constitution to give the president line-item veto authority.
5. In process of permanently eliminating IRS marriage penalty.
6. Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people.
7. Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts.
8. Killed Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America.
9. Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals.
10. Reduced taxes on dividends and capital gains.
11. Signed trade promotion authority.
12. Reduced and is working to ultimately eliminate the estate tax for family farms and ranches.

17. Increased the annual contribution limit on Education IRA's from $500 to $2,000 per child.
18. Make permanent the $5,000 adoption tax credit and provide $1 billion over five years to increase the credit to $10,000.
19. Grant a complete tax exemption for prepaid or college tuition savings plans.
20. Reduced H1B visas from a high of 195,000 per year to 66,000 per year.
Character & Conduct as President
1. Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency.
2. Has reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse.
3. Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days:
Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing."
On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation.
Education & Employment Training
1. Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act.
2. Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education.
3. Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools. (Blocked in the Senate.)
4. Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight.
5. Requires states to participate in the National Assessment of Education Progress, or an equivalent program, to establish a national benchmark for academic performance.
6. Requires school-by-school accountability report cards.
7. Established a $2.4 billion fund to help states implement teacher accountability systems.
8. Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to become teachers.
Environment & Energy
1. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty.
2. Submitted a comprehensive Energy Plan (awaits Congressional action). The plan works to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy, improve national grid, etc.
3. Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives.
4. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops.
5. Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger.
6. Part of national forests cleanup: Restricted judicial challenges (based on the Endangered Species Act and other challenges), and removed the need for an Environmental Impact Statement before removing fuels/logging to reduce fire danger.
7. Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California.
8. Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species.
Defense & Foreign Policy
1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom.
2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured.
3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaeda leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror.
4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed.
5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Has cut off much of the terrorists' funding, and captured or killed many key leaders of the al Qaeda network.
6. Initiated a comprehensive review of our military, which was completed just prior to 9/11/01, and which accurately reported that ASYMMETRICAL WARFARE capabilities were critical in the 21st Century.
7. Killed the old US/Soviet Union ABM Treaty that was preventing the U.S. from deploying our ABM defenses.
8. Has been one of the strongest, if not THE strongest friend Israel has ever hand in the U.S. presidency.
9. Part of the coalition for an Israeli/Palestinian "Roadmap to Peace," along with Great Britain, Russia and the EU.
10. Pushed through THREE raises for our military. Increased military pay by more than $1 billion a year.
11. Signed the LARGEST nuclear arms reduction in world history with Russia.
12. Started withdrawing our troops from Bosnia, and has announced withdrawal of our troops from Germany and the Korean DMZ.
13. Prohibited putting U.S. troops under U.N. command.
14. Paid back UN dues only in return for reforms and reduction of U.S. share of the costs.
15. Earmarked at least 20 percent of the Defense procurement budget for next-generation weaponry.
16. Increased defense research and development spending by at least $20 billion from fiscal 2002 to 2006.
17. Ordered a comprehensive review of military weapons and strategy.
18. Ordered a review of overseas deployments.
19. Ordered renovation of military housing. The military has already upgraded about 10 percent of its inventory and expects to modernize 76,000 additional homes this year.
20. Is working to tighten restrictions on military-technology exports.
21. Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without any bribes or bloodshed.
Globalization & Internationalism
1. Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant).
2. Killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court.
3. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).*
4. The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. He said: "The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations, and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer.
5. Told the Congress and the world, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country."
Government Reform
1. Improved government efficiency by putting hundreds of thousands of jobs put up for bid. This weakens public-sector unions and cuts undeserved pay raises.
2. Initiated review of all federal agencies with the goal of eliminating federal jobs (completed September 2003) in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government while increasing private sector jobs.
3. Led the most extensive reorganization the Federal bureaucracy in over 50 years: After 9/11, condensed 20+ overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors into one agency, the Department of Homeland Security.*
4. Ordered each agency to draft a five-year plan to restructure itself, with fewer managers.
5. Converted federal service contracts to performance-based contracts wherever possible so that the contractor has measurable performance goals.
Health
1. Strengthen the National Health Service Corps to put more physicians in the neediest areas, and make its scholarship funds tax-free.
2. Double the research budget of the National Institutes of Health.
3. Signed Medicare Reform, which includes:
A 10-year privatization option.
Prescription drug benefits: Prior to this reform, Medicare paid for extended hospital stays for ulcer surgery, for example, at a cost of about $28,000 per patient. Yet Medicare would not pay for the drugs that eliminate the cause of most ulcers, drugs that cost about $500 a year. Now, drug coverage under Medicare will allow seniors to replace more expensive surgeries and hospitalizations with less expensive prescription medicine.
More health care choices: As President Bush stated, "â¦when seniors have the ability to make choices, health care plans within Medicare will have to compete for their business by offering higher quality service [at lower cost]. For the seniors of America, more choices and more control will mean better health care. These are the kinds of health care options we give to the members of Congress and federal employees. What's good for members of Congress is also good for seniors.
New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, that means you'll save between 10 to 35 percent on any costs covered by money in your account. Every year, the money not spent would stay in the account and gain interest tax-free, just like an IRA. These accounts will be good for small business owners, and employees. More businesses can focus on covering workers for major medical problems, such as hospitalization for an injury or illness. At the same time, employees and their families will use these accounts to cover doctors visits, or lab tests, or other smaller costs. Some employers will contribute to employee health accounts. This will help more American families get the health care they need at the price they can afford.
Homeland Security, Border Enforcement & Immigration
1. *See Government Reform above. Under President Bush's leadership, America has made an unprecedented commitment to homeland security.
2. Has CONSTRUCTION in process on the first 10 ABM silos in Alaska so that America will have a defense against North Korean nukes. Has ordered national and theater ballistic missile defenses to be deployed by 2004.
3. Announced a 9.7% increase in government-wide homeland security funding in his FY 2005 budget, nearly tripling the FY 2001 levels (excluding the Department of Defense and Project BioShield).
4. Before DHS was created, there were inspectors from three different agencies of the Federal Government and Border Patrol officers protecting our borders. Through DHS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now consolidates all border activities into a single agency to create "one face at the border." This not only better secures the borders of the United States, but it also eliminates many of the inefficiencies that occurred under the old system. With over 18,000 CBP inspectors and 11,000 Border Patrol agents, CBP has 29,000 uniformed officers on our borders.
5. The Border Patrol is continuing installation of monitoring devices along the borders to detect illegal activity.
6. Launched Operation Tarmac to investigate businesses and workers in the secure areas of domestic airports and ensure immigration law compliance. Since 9/11, DHS has audited 3,640 businesses, examined 259,037 employee records, arrested 1,030 unauthorized workers, and participated in the criminal indictment of 774 individuals.
7. Since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has conducted more than 124,000 port security patrols, 13,000 air patrols, boarded more than 92,000 vessels, interdicted over 14,000 individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally, and created and maintained more than 90 Maritime Security Zones.
8. Announced the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an internet-based system that is improving America's ability to track and monitor foreign students and exchange visitors. Over 870,000 students are registered in SEVIS. Of 285 completed field investigations, 71 aliens were arrested.
9. This week, the US-VISIT program began to digitally collect biometric identifiers to record the entry and exit of aliens who travel into the U.S on a visa. Together with the standard information, this new program will confirm compliance with visa and immigration policies.
10. Eliminated INS bureaucratic redundancies and lack of accountability.
11. Split the Immigration and Naturalization Service into two agencies: one to protect the border and interior, the other to deal with naturalization.
12. Signed the workplace verification bill to prevent hiring of illegal aliens.
13. Established a six-month deadline for processing immigration applications.
14. Information regarding nearly 100% of all containerized cargo is carefully screened by DHS before it arrives in the United States. Higher risk shipments are physically inspected for terrorist weapons and contraband prior to being released from the port of entry. Advanced technologies are being deployed to identify warning signs of chemical, biological, or radiological attacks. Since September 11, 2001, hundreds of thousands of first responders across America have been trained to recognize and respond to the effects of a WMD attack.
Judiciary & Tort Reform
1. Is urging federal liability reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits.
2. Killed the liberal ABA's unconstitutional role in vetting federal judges. The Senate is supposed to advise and consent, not the ABA.
3. Is nominating strong, conservative judges to the judiciary.
4. Supports class action reform bill which limits lawyer fees so that more settlement money goes to victims.
Politics
1. His leadership resulted in Republican gains in the House and Senate, solidifying Republican control of both houses of Congress and the presidency.
2. Signed an EO enforcing the Supreme Court's Beck decision regarding union dues being used for political campaigns against individual's wishes.
Second Amendment
1. Ordered Attorney General Ashcroft to formally notify the Supreme Court that the OFFICIAL U.S. government position on the 2nd Amendment is that it supports INDIVIDUAL rights to own firearms, and is NOT a Leftist-imagined "collective" right.
2. Signed TWO bills into law that arm our pilots with handguns in the cockpit.
3. Currently pushing for full immunity from lawsuits for our national gun manufacturers.
4. *See Globalization & Internationalism.
Traditional Values, Compassion & Volunteerism
1. Endorses and promotes "The Responsibility Era." President Bush often speaks of the necessity of personal responsibility and civic volunteerism. He said, "In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else â to one in which every single American understands that he or she is responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself."
2. Started the USA Freedom Corps, the most comprehensive clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities ever offered. For the first time in history, Americans can enter geographic information about where they want to get involved, such as state or zip code, as well as areas of interest ranging from education to the environment, and they can access volunteer opportunities offered by more than 50,000 organizations across the country and around the world.
3. Established the The White House Office and the Centers for the Faith-Based and Community Initiative â located in seven Federal agencies. The faith-based initiative supports the essential work of these important organizations. The goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support, and face fewer bureaucratic barriers. Work focuses on at-risk youth, ex-offenders, the homeless and hungry, substance abusers, those with HIV/AIDS, and welfare-to-work families.
4. The White House released a guidebook fully describing the Administration's belief that faith-based groups have a Constitutionally-protected right to maintain their religious identity through hiring â even when Federal funds are involved.
5. Issued an EO implementing the Supreme Court's Olmstead ruling, which requires moving disabled people from institutions to community-based facilities when possible.
6. Increased funding for low-interest loan programs to help people with disabilities purchase devices to assist them.
7. Revised the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 rent subsidies to disabled people, permitting them to use up to a year's worth of vouchers to finance down payments on homes. HUD has started pilot programs in 11 states.
8. Committed US funds to purchase medicine for millions of men, women and children now suffering with AIDS in Africa.
9. Heeding the words of our own Declaration of Independence, the president laid out the non-negotiable demands of human dignity for all people everywhere. On January 29, 2002, he said, "No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity." As stated by the President, they are a virtual manifesto of conservative principles:
Equal Justice
Freedom of Speech
Limited Government Power
Private Property Rights
Religious Tolerance
Respect for Women
Rule of Law

Rule of Law

Don't think thats the way we should look at it.
I'm not embarassed "We the people" of the United States voted for him, the elections process shows that the majority of people voting for the president and said yes, we do want him for another term.
Myself, I'm not happy with Bush for several different issues, but I'm not going to spend everyday blaming one man for everything that goes wrong in this World, its just crazy http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/goofy.gif and whats the point?
You can say "well this is how we should have done" after the fact. but you will have thousand others saying maybe this is the way it should have been handled.
Here's a test, take several people (say 10) give them a situation and see how many come up with different answers, I think you already know the answer to this. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif
Does any of us here on forums really know how to run a country and have all the answers?...I say NOT!!! I dont care who claims to have Friends in the White House or have inside information, or who have read books on the subject, this is real life, not some movie where you guess an ending of.

Here is an interesting view regarding Harriet Miers, from Chuck Doud, publisher of the Madera Tribune:
"People on both the left and the right are wondering why President Bush nominated Harriet Miers to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Bush, asked the question in several ways in a news conference earlier this week (newspaper dated October 7), said this, in a nutshell: Because he knows her to be smart, decent, hard-working and a first-class lawyer. He has gotten to know her because she worked for him the past 10 years.
Let's see -- smart, decent, hard-working, excellent lawyer. Surely that can't qualify anybody for the Supreme Court, say liberals and conservatives alike.
Yet, that may not be true.
One prominent Supreme Court justice never judged anything in his life before he was appointed to the court by President Eisenhower. He was just another Republican politician -- governor of California. And we know governors of California seldom amount to anything. Yet, he became who some believe was the most influencial jurist of the 20th Century, largely because he was smart, decent, hard-working and a first-class lawyer. His name: Earl Warren.
Then, let's look at the second-most influential jurist of the 20th Century. When he was appointed by President Nixon, nobody had heard of him. He had never been a judge. He hadn't even been governor of California. Just a lowly assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice. But when we bade him goodbye not long ago, he was praised for being decent, smart, hard-working and a first-class lawyer. His name was William H. Rehnquist.
So, don't judge too soon what sort of justice Harriet Miers might become." -- Chuck Doud

Public Resoundingly Rejects Bush and His Policies
Things have not been going so well for George W. Bush lately. For example, every poll of the general public in October has his approval rating under 40 percent. Of all these polls, the latest Pew Research poll has the most useful data for understanding why Bush and the GOP have entered such perilous political territory. These data show that the public has, pretty much across the board, come to resoundingly negative judgements on Bushâs policies, decisions, and approaches to governing. These judgements leave the Bush administration and GOP with little to no political capital to spend and no obvious way of recouping that capital absent suddenâand improbableâU-turns on the economy, Iraq, etc.
Consider these data from the Pew poll:
1. A plurality (41 percent to 26 percent) now believes Bush will, in the long run, be an unsuccessful, rather than successful, president.
2. A plurality (41 percent to 21 percent) now believes Bush has made âpolitics and the way government works in Washingtonâ worse, not better.
3. When asked about Bushâs policies and decisions in 11 specific areas, the public only has a plurality positive judgement in one area (Americaâs national security), where 47 percent believe his policies have made things better and 30 percent believe theyâve made things worse. After that, Bushâs best area is âmorality in America,â where just 25 percent believe heâs made things better, compared to 35 percent who believe heâs made things worse. Thatâs followed by public education (24 percent better/32 percent worse), the tax system (22 percent/40 percent), Americaâs relation with its allies (22 percent/47 percent), Americaâs economy (19 percent/57 percent), race relations (16 percent/29 percent), health care in America (16 percent/43 percent), the Social Security system (12 percent/40 percent), the gap between rich and poor (8 percent/57 percent) and the federal budget deficit (6 percent/66 percent).
4. Not surprisingly, given these harsh judgements, the public overwhelmingly says that they want the next president to offer âdifferent policies and programsâ than those of the Bush administration (69 percent), rather than similar policies and programs (25 percent).
5. Also not surprisingly, these negative views have hurt the image of the Republican party relative to the Democratic party. The public favors the Democrats over the Republicans on âconcerned with the needs and interests of the disadvantagedâ (+39), âconcerned with the needs of people like meâ (+22), âcan bring about the kinds of changes the country needsâ (+16), âgoverns in an honest and ethical wayâ (+10) and âable to manage the federal government wellâ (+6). The Republicans get the nod over the Democrats in only two areas and these are more liabilities than assets. By 37 points, the public says the GOP is the party âconcerned with the needs and interests of business and other powerful groupsâ and by 38 points they say the Republicans are the party âconcerned with the needs and interests of business.â
In addition, the poll provides ample documentation of the âIndycratâ phenomenom I wrote about last weekâthat is, the close alignment of independentsâ and Democratsâ views and the great distance of both from the views of GOP identifiers. As just a few examples of many, on whether Bush has made politics and government in Washington better, independents are only 9 points away from Democrats, but 40 points away from Republicans; on whether Bush will have a successful presidency, independents are 13 points away from Democrats, but 43 points away from Republicans; and on whether a new president should offer different policies than those of the Bush administration, independents are a modest 15 points from Democratsâ views, but a whopping 63 points from Republicansâ views. Increasingly, itâs looking like one big political partyâthe Indycratsâagainst a beleaguered GOP minority.
The poll also finds some rather astonishing evidence of fading support among one of the GOPâs key demographics: white men. In this poll, just 44 percent of this group approves of Bushâs job performance, by 41 percent to 35 percent, they think Bush will have an unsuccessful presidency and by an amazing 67 percent to 27 percent, they want the next administration to have different policies than the Bush administration.
And this is the same group that voted 61 percent to 38 percent to give Bush a second term! Perhaps thereâs a bit of buyerâs remorse setting in. . . .

So what's the charge?
Can you spell it out in an impeachable offence?
It is important to note that impeachment is a "political", and not a judicial process. An impeachable offense is anything a mojority in the House of Representatives says it is. If a house majority votes that spitting on the sidewalk is an impeachable offense, then it is an impeachable offense. It takes only a mojority vote in the House to impeach (indict). The House, voted by a 5 vote majority to impeach Bill Clinton for lying about sex. Hey, I've done that - tell me that you haven't.
The Senate with a 10 vote Republican majority acquitted President Clinton on a vote of 50/50. Sixty seven votes would have been needed to convict and remove the president from office.
Is lying repeatedly and getting us into a war based on those lies more serious than lying about sex? Should that be impeachable? Probably, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is wisely staying away from another policical procedure that would waste time and money, and hve no chance of succeeding.
