I hope this doesn't get construed as an ad per the forum rules. I' realized I forgot to announce here that my son has taken my word-of-mouth workshops out of my home and into the cyber world with a new website (I did this in 2007 on the Coarsegold forums). Quite exciting for those of us who barely master the point and click technique!

It is TheLotusPath.org. I hope some of you get a chance to visit it and pass it on to those who may find something of intrigue within it.

For any film fans,

In 1995, Betty Malicoat (daughter of theosophist Joe Miller and owner of The Lotus Path in Coarsegold, CA) wrote a short story that was published in the San Joaquin Review Spring Edition. Fifteen years later, unbeknownst to Mrs. Malicoat, her son (Los Angeles actor and filmmaker D.C. Douglas) adapted it into a short film and then subsequently surprised her with a special L.A. screening and party last October in Beverly Hills.

"The Crooked Eye" incorporates live actors with CGI environs and is narrated by Academy Award winner Linda Hunt. Since it's completion, it has been screening at festivals around the country and abroad. One of the festivals happens to be local to Mrs. Malicoat - Fresno Filmworks Film Festival!

It will be showing on April 19th, Sunday at 4:30 along with several other shorts. The director and the writer (Betty Malicoat) will be in attendance. Tickets can be purchased for $10 on the festival website or at the door.

We hope you can attend!

More information on the festival can be found here: fresnofilmworks.org/festival/2009/shorts-program-2
