Mariposa boasts one of the largest and most authentic “battlefields.” On 40 acres of rustic land at Long’s Ranch near Yaqui Gulch Road, it has quickly become a favorite location.
This year’s event, Las Mariposas Civil War Days, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26, beginning at 9 a.m. Shuttle bus service and food and souvenir vendors will be on hand. Tickets cost $5 and may be bought at the gate or at the Visitors Center in Mariposa (at the intersection of Highways 140 and 49). Visit the Web site thecivilwardays.com or NCWA.org, or call (866)425-3366 or (209) 966-7081 for more information.
