Parts of BBC/Disney footage has been seen on TV before.
The nature films produced by the Disney Studios in the '50s provided a rare opportunity for millions of people to see the wonders of the world from the safety of theater seats.
"Earth" marks a return by the studio to this form of entertainment. The big problem, though, is this kind of production is anything but a rarity these days. Cable channels and public television are saturated with series that offer detailed looks at the flora and fauna of the world.
The proliferation of nature offerings means that this kind of film feels redundant. That is certainly the case with "Earth." A majority of the feature film, opening today, has been seen before.
