NBC renews "Medium"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – NBC has renewed paranormal crime drama "Medium," sources said.

Details have not been determined, but the renewal is expected to be in the 13- to 18-episode range.

The Patricia Arquette-starring series has become a utility player for NBC -- a consistent, if modestly rated, performer and a reliable midseason backup.

On the eve of NBC's Monday programing presentation to advertisers, the network also picked up midseason cop drama "Southland" and was finalizing a renewal of midseason comedy "Parks and Recreation," starring Amy Poehler.

There is still no final word on NBC's two remaining "bubble" series -- modestly rated shows walking a fine line between renewal and cancellation -- quirky sophomore "Chuck" and veteran "Law & Order," which is looking to tie "Gunsmoke's" record run with a 20th season pickup.

Both series appear likely to return, but the decision probably won't be made until after the network's Monday presentation.

I sooooo don't like that show. Watched the 1st season but didn't care for it. I much prefer Ghost Whisper.

Wow, am I out of the loop. I don't think I've heard of either one of those shows. I have seen "A Haunting," "Scariest Places on Earth" (that's so much hype), "Ghost Hunters" and "Paranormal State." I only like "A Haunting" but that might be because I know a woman who was on two of the episodes, and she could verify what was true or "embellished" on those shows.

Ghost Hunters drives me crazy because they always seem to overdo the "OMG! Did you hear (or see) THAT?" and act all scared like little kids. I always think, "Well, what did you expect -- you are investigators.....aren't you?" Then I remember to chill out cuz it's just a TV show. They HAVE to act!

My husband and I call them 'crying' shows and don't watch them! (Medium and Ghost Whisperer) Seems like whenever we have, I end up in tears. Same thing with Extreme Homes.

We used to watch both of them occasionally, but to us it got to the point that they were both so "over the top" as to be completely ridiculous...

I liked Southland cause it seems tell the general public the "truth" of law enforcement.
