I'm going to Santa Barbara and Ojai this weekend with several friends. We are going to see Ziggy Marley and 311 in concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. We have a suite booked in Ojai at Chantico Inn Suites (http://www.chanticoinnsuites.com/), where my aunt works. Do you have any suggestions for restaurants or fun activities in Santa Barbara and/or Ojai?

My favorite stomping grounds!!!

Ojai - hiking (the streets roll up pretty early from what I remember)

Santa Barbara - State Street is about the only thing I can think of - lots of bars/cantinas/music.

Or just hang out at the Beach...

We may go to The Mission... definitely going to the beach! Our hotel is pretty set up and you can walk the streets of Ojai from there. I'm excited! I got the Ziggy tickets as a birthday present for Davy, so I'm trying to make it a fun trip for him. This means no bars, just good 'ol wholesome fun for all ages.

Well, I'm back from my vacation. We had a great time! We ended up staying in Ojai 2 nights and 1 night in Pismo. I got to visit with my family and a friend that I have not seen in several years. The concert was ok. Ziggy didn't play long enough and we didn't really care for 311. But there were so many other great things about the trip so the actual concert was not the highlite of the weekend. I may go back in a few weeks. :)

Sorry I missed this one Sandman. We lived there for five years and sometimes I wonder why we ever left. Places for next time:

1. Carlitos restaurant on state st across from the arlington theater.
2. More mesa in goleta. The western side of the bluffs has a "path" leading down to the beach. The cut in the bluff above the path is my favorite place in the entire area.
3. Rattlesnake canyon hike
4. Tuckers Grove park. The stream above the park is great for rock hopping
5. The little neighborhood park off of Calle Aparejo in goleta. Nothing spectacular, but that is a very nostalgic place for me considering how much time I spent there

There are many many other places of course.
