Yeah, what she said...
Didn't I hear somewhere sometime that an Oakhurst Forums gathering worthy of Karma award only had to be posted openly on the Forums and attended as a direct result of that open posting. Didn't think Sandman had to be in attendance - only that EXTRA Karma would be awarded upon first meeting Sandman face to face (either in a spotting, by chance/business paths crossing or at a gathering/event). Heck, Rima - we're so far past that first EXTRA award it's not funny. Gotta push for the points just for attendance...

Why do people kiss at midnight on New Year's Eve? I know it's a tradition, but where/why did it start? I have been to several New Year's Eve parties that would have been very awkward for people to pick somebody to smooch with. I mean the people there would not kiss under normal circumstances so it would have all seemed obligatory. I wonder if it has anything to do with the drinking! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/freak.gif

rimalicious
Nov 21, 2005, 06:36 AM
Here is what I found online ..."The kiss shared at the stroke of midnight in the United States is derived from masked balls that have been common throughout history. As tradition has it, the masks symbolize evil spirits from the old year and the kiss is the purification into the new year."

CatdaBrat

Oh, thank you for checking that out for me -- very interesting. I had forgotten about those masked balls.

I don't blame you for ditching us, Sandman. I'd ditch us for the great Les Claypool too, if I didn't have my own gig to play!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to party with the OF crowd and it's an honor to entertain any of you who come out on New Year's Eve. It's just that Les Claypool is a MONSTER player and innovator on the bass guitar and I'm... well... not.

Good point, Sheila! That's certainly true. Stone River doesn't have "fans," we have "friends who party with us"... or should I say "partners in crime?" http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/cool4.gif

Whoops sorry about that Epic!

No big deal. After all, I do play "bass GUITAR," so it's partially correct. I just couldn't resist making fun a little bit.

Did you write that article, Goddesschyyld? If so, THANK YOU! We appreciate the coverage. It's fun to be considered newsworthy, even in a small community like ours. We're lucky to get to play for such great people. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif It's really about as much fun as I've ever had in my life.
