We are renting one of the rv's for 3 nites at Wishon Village Campground in a couple of weeks. Up by Shaver Lake - past Dinkey Creek. We will have my sister-in-law and 2 nieces, 13 and 5 visiting from Portland. Has anyone stayed there before? Suggestions for fun things to do? Planning on renting a boat one day. Are there any short easy hikes? I'm sure they will be thrilled with just lots of water time and hot dogs and s'mores over a campfire at night. They have never gone camping - not that this could be called camping LOL rolleyes: But we are taking the small tent and some therma-rest pads and sleeping bags just in case one of them feels adventurous. I guess Auntie M would have to be out there with them though - We'll see how my back does on a therma-rest - it's been at least 6 yrs since I camped on the ground... Any suggestions or sharing of experiences is welcome! I've heard it's a nice campground. And when I asked on the phone if they had much trouble with campers playing boom boxes they said all the right things.

LIke you say, the kids will enjoy it no matter what. My 4 & 7 year old niece and nephew just "camped" in a trailer in our back yard this weekend. They thought is was big time camping. Make sure you have FRESH marshmellows for smores!
Don't forget to have a handful of stories on hand to enhance their memories. They still remembered my stories from last year.
It's a great age to learn about nature.

um. stories. like ghost stories? jeez I might have to google some. but good idea. We just drove down the last 2 days from the Columbia Gorge where Granny and Paca live, and I had to google car games in preparation for the trip. Found momsminivan.com and printed out the words to Found a Peanut and On top of Spaghetti - mostly for my benefit. Kids and Mom already knew them of course. I am short on kid experience, and am the disciplinarian Auntie M, lol. Learning to loosen up more though . . . and looking forward to the next week with them, including the Big Camping Trip.
