I have been to every Tooth puller in The mountains. I like DR Lambert in Coarsegold the best. He is moving to the new office next to Yosemite Bank.

When my daughter needed dental work he is the only one we could find who accepted Medi-Cal.

I go to Dr Essex, I have been happy with him. I know when I was on medical he took that too. that was just last year. I have a friend who has medical and she still goes to him.
I take my daughters to Dr. Brosi, we have actually only been there once so far (my daughters have insurance) anyhow, everyone there seemed real friendly and it was fine.

I had a complimentary consultation with Dr. Fey in North Fork.
Liked him enough to schedule an appt. in February.
Very reasonable prices.

Well, I am interested in this thread simply becouse I travel to southern california to have work done on my teeth from a dentist I have known since childhood. I am interested in finding a dentist here. I would even be interested in finding one in fresno if anybody has a good relationship with one in that area. Price is not a worry. The info provided so far is interesting. Anybody else have any preferences or references?

I, too traveled to LA for my dental work, but found a dentist in Clovis who is very good. He's reset my porcelain crowns without too much pain or problem and is really a nice guy.

Jack uses one of the local dentists, but I won't let them work on me. He had a tooth extracted today...

Oh thank you Dodgergirl and Nascar8fan for the info. I too have a lot of porcelain work done and feel safer knowing that these dentists you all prescribed have experience in dealing with porcelain vaneer's. I will look into it. Again, thanks... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

When did he start accepting medi-cal? I have gone for years & he never did before? So, is it a new thing?

Thanks - can any of your share an experience with your fav local dentist for a crown? a root canal? I'm thinking I may have to have a root canal... never had one and am scared to trust just any dentist!

I always had complicating heart issues, that influenced how I could be treated by a dentist. This along with a learned fear of them over the years? Well, I can sum it up by saying, Doctor Mike, ( Horsanian ) , is one of the gentlest and kindest dentists I have ever gone to~
The only reason I ever changed from him was when they changed our dental coverage and I had to find another dentist.:(

I have had a root canal and crown by Dr. Horasanian and I also had root canal and crown by Dr. Peter - Dr. Peter wins hands down.
Dr. Peter was way less painful and got it done way faster. His staff is way friendlier too - they actually know who you are when you go in again. My whole family goes to Dr. Peter, right down to my 5yr old. My 7yr old has major dental work to be done and he has established a great repore with her, she likes him and she too is that heart palpatation fear of dental work. His daughter is also in her class at OES and I see him often and he really is good looking. Double wink YJ ;)

"Dr. Mike" is our dentist too... We like him lots!!!
A short time ago, I needed to have a very old filling re-done. I really dreaded it as there was a possibility that the tooth could explode as it was a HUGE filling in a molar. He and his staff did a wonderful job, and I have a fantastic new crown!!

In September my mother had a bridge done by Dr. Peter and today he did an emergency crown. I took her in for an x-ray of the tooth and they had a cancelation and did the whole thing for her. She just loves Dr. Peter, 83 and in love with your dentist......only kidding but she really does think he is a good dentist. By the way $850.00. Wow we are all in the wrong line of work. A funny story and I hope I do not offend anyone, that may see themselves in this story. My mother's medical doctor told her he is not happy with some of his staff and said he has such a problem getting good people to work for him. She asked him if he knew Dr. Peter and he said yes. She said every one in his office is just so nice. He said, I wonder what the difference between him and me is. And honestly this is what she said, only someone who is 83 could get away with it. "Well, he is young and good looking".

I saw Dr. Peter last week, he wanted me to get a second opinion on the crown. (I guess I'm a special case), so he referred me to Dr. Ryan Franklin, an Endodontic Specialist, off rd 426 near Sierra Star building.
I was expecting a guy in his 50's... was surprised he was younger than I expected... early 40's???
He took the time to answer all my questions (and I had a lot)... I also told him I didn't want to just do a root canal because its the easy way out for them to make the pain go away when I bite. If my crown is not seated correctly, I want to get a new crown... But after his diagnostic tests and talking to me he believes I need a root canal, if not now, then at some point in the future, he told me I don't have to do it, could wait and watch it, and the risks of losing a tooth if I did so and it was to get further inflamed... but since I was there, and I've been watching it for over a year and I couldn't chew on that side of my mouth for over a year, I told him, go ahead.
I was freaked out about all the horror stories I've heard about root canals from friends and family who've had them. But honestly - after the shots were done, piece of cake. He was actually very gently (no cuts/cracks on my lips, no tearing into my mouth, etc.) I felt well enough afterwards to hang at Longs Drugs for a while. (I went in for Ibuprofin, uh, left with some holiday decorations and gifts.) I thought, well, when the novacaine wears off, I'm going to be hurting from the shots, and the tooth....
Hours went by, no pain. This morning, absolutely no pain!
I am good to go! I would recommend him for a root canal.
I did tell him on exiting, "No offense, but I hope not to see you again!"
Oh, and Yosemite Joy, Dr. Peters has got NOTHING on Dr. Franklin -- he is hot... (And yes, I told Newcomer that I was going to post that!)

We are so lucky to have such good dentists up here in the mountains. Dr. Peter refers out when ever he has a question about diagnosis. He referred my mother to a surgeon in Fresno for a second opinion and after thinking it over she decided to go with Dr. Peter's suggestion not the surgeons. She is very happy with the results.
