I went to Sunday Brunch at Ducey's just this last Sunday. I had never been before. Overall-I give the experience an 'A'. We were a tough group to wait on. The group as a whole was more than a little late. The servers didn't seem to mind.

There were two egg allergies at my table and they were more than happy to adjust menu items to accommodate us.

For such a large group (20) the food came out as fast as the server could carry it and no one seemed to have a mistake with their order.

The food was good. Prices were fair. For some reason though, I had expected more from the menu. Not that it is lacking. I had thought there would be more originality.

My only complaint was that Ducey's doesn't have a way to really seat large parties. They gave us a section of 5 or 6 booths...but that is no way to visit. It doesn't sound like you will be having that problem though!!

My new favorite is the Ahwahnee in Yosemite Valley. It was amazing with fresh prawns, not the peel and eat kind, fresh oysters, mussels, carving station, omelet station. It was great and with a great view. I also like the Casino's brunch.

I wonder if my friends would think it too long to drive to THe Ahwahnee....it's my favorite building on the planet and their food is amazing. We got lucky enough to do The Bracebridge Dinner one year....AMAZING! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

Ducey's has always been our fav for Sunday brunch but if you happen to be "moseying" down Fresno way the Sheraton has a great Sun. brunch at a reasonable price. Sheraton is on Shields and Blackstone. (Champagne brunch to boot!!)

Well, yesterday we were at Bass Lake with out-of-town (and out-of-country) guests and we had lunch at Ducey's. The guests were impressed with the building and atmosphere, but I wonder what they think of their dining experience. None of us complained and we still left a good tip, as there is always the possibility that our server was new and just learning, or had more important things on her mind. Besides, I have eaten there often and didn't have anything to whine about.

This time, though, it was very different. A couple of orders arrived very very late, a couple of others weren't even what was ordered, one person's coffee cup had dishwashing detergent residue, every time coffee was poured it got sloshed all over the saucer and tablecloth, and for some reason, when a diner had a choice of "either/or" items on the menu, they got both, no matter which they'd chosen. Like if you were asked if you wanted french fries or fresh fruit, you ended up with both. The one person who ordered soft-set fried eggs got them with hard-cooked yolks and they were cold, somebody else's sourdough bread turned out to be an English muffin...just that sort of thing.

Like I said, we weren't in the mood for chastising or complaining, and we were trying to be very understanding. All the same, if you plan to go there, be open to the possibility that things might not go as planned! Will I go back? Sure....it was just an off day, I guess.
