I saw this show mentioned in another thread, so I thought I'd start a topic...
I just watched the entire first season of lost. My sister got me hooked. Now, I just downloaded the first part of the second season and am almost all caught up.
This show is great! I love the sound and the camera footage... it is almost like watching a movie. If you have not seen this show, you should check it out.
You can rent/buy the first season on DVD. The second season is about half way over, so it's not on DVD yet. However, you can download it via iTunes and watch it on your computer. Or, use a program like Limewire to get it. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

Who is your favorite character? I like Hugo? The guy that won the lottery. I'd probably be chillin with him if I was there. Kate is pretty hot. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

He mentioned in one of the first shows that his friends gave him the nickname "Hurley" and he wasn't going to give the reason for it. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/lol.gif Maybe it was the T-shirt. Or maybe he just wore a Hurley shirt since it was already his nickname.
Anyway, I don't like the second season as much as the first season. I just have this feeling that we are being setup for a major let down on the plot. I hope not. Last weeks episode was pretty good.

So who watched this tonight? Thoughts?
Is Michael an other?
I know Anna was gonna die, but Libby??? Maybe she will be alive afterall? This show is good, but it isn't as good as it was last season. They have not encountered the "monster" thing in such a long time.
Why don't they explore the island more? Why not build more shelter? A Kitchen area for all of the food would be nice.
If I was lost on that island, I would be doing whatever I could to get off the island AND make life better on the island. I would creating the SOS sign on the beach, build some more rafts and boats... not just one. I'd want to build a secure place to sleep... dig out an area under the bushes. Or, why are they not all in the hatch? That's were I would probably be. I would also do what was needed to have a gun to protect myself.
What would you do if you were on this island? Who would you be hanging out with?

"Lost" Book Clues In Fans
Friday May 5 5:07 PM ET
By Gina Serpe
Bad Twin has only been available for three days, but the book has already nabbed endorsements from two high-profile names: Sawyer and Hurley.
Hyperion Books released the mystery novel Tuesday, marking one small step for Lost promotional tie-ins and one giant leap from fiction to reality.
The book, written by fictitious Oceanic Flight 815 passenger Gary Troup—for those without their decoder rings, his name is an anagram of "purgatory"—is being billed as the last manuscript from the author, who supposedly dropped the book off at his publisher just days before perishing on the made-for-TV flight.
ABC announced plans to market the character's book last November and have since managed to crowbar in several scenes which find castaways perusing the manuscript, which miraculously managed to survive the crash, the ocean, the fires and the routine pillages by the seemingly illiterate Others with all its pages in tact.
Just as miraculously, the completed book also managed to find its way to a Disney-owned publishing house.
"We got this manuscript from this guy and we couldn't reach him," Hyperion president Bob Miller told the Associated Press. "He apparently got on this plane in Australia and has been lost at sea."
The book's cover features a tantalizing selling point for would-be Troup fans, declaring the mystery "His Final Novel Before Disappearing on Oceanic Flight 815."
The plot, pieced together for fans who may actually read the book and not just scan lines for clues pertaining to the series, centers on the detective Paul Artisan who is hired to track down the "bad twin" Zander Widmore by his "good twin" Cliff. Along the way, Artisan enlists the help of a good buddy who just so happens to be well-versed in biblical parables and metaphors on the meaning of life.
As expected, Bad Twin is chalk full of cheeky references to the primetime juggernaut, including several mentions of the 17th century philosopher John Locke (that's the sound of legions of Lost fans perking up), a makeshift boat named "Escape Hatch," allusions to life being complicated and unable to be boiled down to something as simple as, say, "a string of numbers," and of course, most of the action takes place on a mysterious—and fictional—island.
"As with every island, there was something slippery and mysterious about Peconciquot," the book reads, per an excerpt from the Toronto Sun. "It was connected to the larger world, and then again it wasn't. It had a logic of its own, a highly local mythology that made perfect sense within its confines yet fitted uneasily with the mind-habits of the world beyond its boundaries."
That clears that up.
For those fans wishing to check out more of Troup's work, they may want to dig up his first novel, The Valenzetti Equation. That is, if it actually existed they might. The book is described as centering on a mathematical equation which predicts the apocalypse and while no more specifics have been released, it's likely Lost fans could hazard an accurate guess as to which numbers may be involved in the solution.
Still, should fans decide to crack open Bad Twin, they'd be in good, albeit fake, company.
On Lost's Feb. 8 episode, Hurley pulled the immaculately preserved manuscript from the plane's wreckage and just this week, unlikely bookworm Sawyer was happened upon extolling the literary merits of the whodunit.
Of course, thinly-veiled as the novel may be, one mystery still remains: Who actually wrote it. While Stephen King and Ridley Pearson, both self-confessed fans of the show, have drawn speculation as the author, harsh critics dismiss the theory, claiming the tome is too poorly written to come from the mystery masterminds. Most likely, the book was a committee effort.
But for those who just aren't into the whole reality thing, an interview with Troup has been made available on Amazon.com.
Lost's season finale airs May 24.

Lost creator JJ Abrams was just on Howard Stern's Sirius show, and gave a great interview. They only created open ended story lines for the show, and always keep some of them open. JJ Abrams was not involved so much in the second season, since he was directing Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 3. That's why the second season was so different. The network would like to keep the show going forever, as long as the ratings last, so there will never be one big conclusion, unless the ratings go away. There will always be multiple mysteries going on at the same time. Sigh, makes my brain hurt. Damn this show!

I've been enjoying the second season very much. And it is true that they haven't encountered the "monster" in awhile, but time is very compressed on the island. If I remember right, Eko was that last to see it....I think that was only like 2 weeks ago in island time. Besides, since I think the whole thing is just a mind game by Dharma, they probably use operant conditioning on the losties, which would involve periods where the monster is completely absent.
RE: Michael, that was one hell of a shock. I knew his little "others" recount was fake, but NEVER expected him to do what he did. My guess is that he cut a deal with the Others for Walt. Libby was just an accident and shooting himself in shoulder was just a way to make it look like the fake Henry Gale got the best of them.
Sandman, don't question the logistics of their actions http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif It will just make you dislike the show, because they are doing almost nothing that they probably should. Next you'll be asking why no one on the show ever takes a dump, or why all the women wear makeup and have beautiful hair, or how Jack manages to maintain a perfect 5 o'clock shadow.

I like your theory, because I was completely shocked with that ending. I believe you might have something there, and I thought Michael shot himself in the shoulder to make it look like he didn't do the killing.
But in my personal opinion, I'm glad that Anna Lucia was killed, I didn't quite like her.

Anna was scheduled to be on the show for season two only. She did not want to do more then one season. Many think that she was killed off due to the DUI she got, but that is not the case.
I think Libby is still alive, but will probably not wake up until the end of the show. By that time, Michael will have already convinced a team to go on a hunt for Walt. That's my guess. Libby will probably die at the end of next episode. We'll see....

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - ABC has set an end date for "Lost."
The Emmy-winning adventure series will run for 48 more episodes over three seasons. Each season will consist of 16 episodes, which will air uninterrupted.
"Lost" executive producers/showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, who have been vocal about setting up an endgame for the show, have signed on to stay for the remainder of the series' run. Their separate new eight-figure deals with "Lost" producer ABC TV Studio include their services on the show as well as multiyear development pacts set to kick in when "Lost" bows out during the 2009-10 season.

Lost Rediscovers Harold Perrineau
Let it be known, the president of ABC is a plot-tease.
Attempting to extricate himself from a roomful of voracious, scoop-mad reporters with all his limbs intact, network honcho Steve McPherson on Wednesday grudgingly offered the first of what is expected to be several big revelations about Lost's fourth season during ABC's press tour for the Television Critics Association.
"I've cast Don Imus on Lost," McPherson told reporters.
He was joking.
While the bigmouthed shock jock won't be dropping by on Mystery Island, somebody else will: former series regular Harold Perrineau.
Perrineau's character, Michael Dawson, has not been seen on the show since the season two finale more than a year ago. He shot dead two of his fellow castaways—Libby (Cynthia Watros) and Ana-Lucia (Michelle Rodriguez)—to allow head Other Ben (Michael Emerson) to escape from his cell. In return for his betrayal, the Others allowed Michael and son Walt, played by Malcolm David Kelley, to sail peacefully into the sunset.
While Walt made a few brief appearances in the third season as a vision for other characters, including as a guardian angel of sorts to a wounded Locke in the final episode, Michael has been completely MIA from the island.

Yes, we know that there are 6 survivors of the plane crash. Keep in mind that this means 6 people from the plane return home... this would not include any others that returned home, like Juliett... since she wasn't on the plane, she wouldn't be considered a survivor of the crash. So, there is a possibility that some of the "others" returned home... or Desmond? The French lady?
Also, I am thinking that some people stayed on the island. So it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else is dead. Perhaps Claire and the baby will end up staying.
We know that Jack, Kate and Hurley leave the island, so that is 3 of the six.

However, the "he's waiting comment" was made back at civilization and the conversation was between Jake and Kate.. .this is is not a back story... it's a front story. ;) So with that said, Sawyers Dad would already be dead since he was killed while they were on an island.

It's time to get the DVD's and catch up before new episodes air!
We wouldn't have to catch up if they'd just keep to the same schedules that all the other programs do. I don't like this few episodes at a time bit and then a few more a year later.

I guess it all depends on where they are on the space/time continum....
(nobody really dies on LOST)
I was somewhat disappointed with the show last night...

I must have been too, as I fell asleep! :( Did they show anything that can be considered a "must know"?

You can probably download the shows on abc.com/lost if not now in the next day or so.

I have tried several times to watch previous episodes of LOST on the abc.com full episode player. I meet all the requirements, but after I watch one chapter of an episode and wait for the next one to load, it only runs the same chapter. I have spent hours trying to make it work...decided to go to Netflix for missing episodes.

I too thought it some sort of reality show so I never watched it. I haven't really watched any network tv series since X-Files ended. My daughter told me it was a good show. I did a marathon on netflix. I was very impressed. Good cast, I havn't seen any writing gaffes which is almost unheard of for network tv. I'm really looking forward to the final season.

For all you Lost fans!
Obama's State of the Union won't preempt season premiere of 'Lost' after all~
"Lost" fanatics had their undies in a bunch Wednesday over news that the White House might push back the president's SOTU address to Feb. 2 to enable Obama to use a freshly signed health-care reform law as an audiovisual aid.
Unless you've been living under a flat rock, you've seen ABC hammering home the point recently that Feb. 2 is the day that the intensely weird drama series returns for its sixth and final (thank you, God) season and that all of our many pressing questions from last season's finale would finally be answered. I am. I watched part of the first year and became so annoyed that I stopped. Then last year I rediscovered it and love it. I even like Sawyer now.
Plus, ever since childhood, I've loved freckles. Over-share! :D

My sister got me hooked during the first season. I got several other friends hooked shortly thereafter. It kinda "LOST" me last season a bit, but I am ready to give the final season a chance.
And so the recap show begins.... gotta go....

Parallel universes and John Locke is now 3 people! Fun stuff. A lot of commentary on how we live and see our lives. Kind of a complex metaphor.
I just hope it doesn't end like Twin Peaks. They were supposed to tie everything together but didn't.
It did seem like a lot more commercials tonight.

Oh I missed it. Maybe that was for the best if John is 3 people...my head is just spinning reading this
